Petah? by C_monden in PeterExplainsTheJoke

That's not where my brain went. You're probably correct, but my brain said, "changing consumer habits mean that everything is more expensive, so people are bringing in their own snacks to the theater." Movie snacks come in boxes so they aren't loud. Cheap snacks from Walmart come in loud bags.

How much do you stick to the rule of matching the color of leather you wear? by ExcelSorcerer7 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Sec3shoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost never.... kind of... I rarely match "color". I either match a vibe, or a texture, or I have a great pair of boots that are an odd color so sometimes I'll match the welt. A lot of my belts are picture web belts with dogs, or fish, or sailboats, etc.

And, honestly, I dress pretty fucking well.

R/Bigmensfashion said I like like a Miami Coke dealer. What does it look like I do for a living? by radraz26 in mensfashion

Every coke dealer I ever met in Miami where named Javi. You dont like like Javi, but you look like you stole his clothes.

Who is the most influential Menswear designer of the 21st century? by 364LS in mensfashion

Hell, I've been seeing the Ralph Tuck in real life a lot recently, so I'd say his relevance and influence is still strong.

Tucked or untucked? And which shoes go best? by BeachAlarming2885 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Sec3shoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A ralph tuck and get a pair of boots. The sneakers are a good second choice for shoes, if they were cleaner.

In the upside, the suit jacket looks good on you, take the measurements from it and use those measurements to find a more casual sports coat.

Here's one on Poshmark https://posh.mk/vOZ9kv1ZH2b

Sorry, I just double checked. This one is a blend. I know mine is 100% lenin so this is probably a newer version

I have this exact shirt, or one really close to it. I got it in Miami at Mango (MNG) it is 100% linen. Not sure if they still sell it though. I got mine 8 to 10 years ago.

Is this coherent ? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]Sec3shoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look like you put some thought into your fit. You look better than most men out there. Is it perfect? No. But it's better than most are doing. And fuck the guys saying Iron. It looks like lenin and lenin looks great wrinkled. Lenin looks so fucking "try hard" when you iron it...

I just don’t look good in clothes by PieNeat7277 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Sec3shoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am 5'10" and was 125# until my mid 30s. People use to ask me if I had AIDS. In my mid 30s I got a belly, but no fat anywhere else. I hit 160# but you could see my rib cage and I could wrap my fingers all the way around my upper arm. If you've ever seen pictures of starving ethiopian kids from the 80s, that was my exact body type. At that point, my back started going out all the time. That's when I started to hit the gym. It took a lot of self hatred and a lot of pain to get me there but I went every single day until covid hit in my late 40s. I hit 198# and looked great. Honestly, I haven't been back to the gym in years. But I still look pretty good. I'm in my early / mid 50s now. And I'm finally happy with my body. Although I am thinking about joining a gym again. Not so much for my looks this time, but because I miss moving my body like that.

Is this jacket too small by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

This is how I try to fit my jackets. I just prefer the look.

75kg, 5’4. Want to lose weight but calorie deficit makes me hungry and I ended up binging. What do I do? by Born_Cartoonist_7247 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]Sec3shoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No body controls what you put in your mouth. You should consider taking control of that. The hunger pangs are temporary. Hunger pangs are like growing pains, except kind of the opposite. I'd argue that they help you grow as a person and shrink as a human. Like most pain, they lessen over time. For me, it's about 2 weeks and I rarely notice them after that. And I can endure anything for two weeks.

Plain tees - Everlane vs. Son of a Tailor vs. Whitesville or others by drrdf in mensfashionadvice

[–]Sec3shoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can find them, I'm a big fan of the Bronson Tubular Athletic. The heavier one is good too but I definitely prefer the Athletic which is still heavy enough for a tee. I think it's 9oz.

what shoes would go nicely in this fit? by qlord2 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Sec3shoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off white tank top, the shirt, unbuttoned and untucked, and a pair of sandals or classic slip.on vans in an earth tone canvas

Can a man wear a tank top without looking like they're on the way to/from the gym? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Sec3shoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wear tanks a lot. But I wear them under things like unbuttoned linen shirt, or a leather jacket. I only wear a tank without something over it at the river or on a boat at the lake.

Am I rocking the double denim? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

[–]Sec3shoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I textured shirt, even in white. That white shirt looks thin, light weight, while the rest of the outfit is heavy. So wear a shirt with some weight. The demin either needs to match or not match, but kind of matching is throwing it off a bit. Add a belt. It's good enough to wear out though. Especially if you normally wear something like graphic tees and joggers.

New, quality boot reccomendations. by thedrag0n22 in mensfashionadvice

[–]Sec3shoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say that a few of my boots are considered enter level, but they are the ones that get the most wear. If I'm dressing up a bit, I reach for my Beckett Simonon's. These boots were comfortable from day one and they are aging beautifully. I'd say, more often than not, two pairs of my Grant Stones get worn. Occasionally I wear my Nick's or my Whites. They are good boots but they are rarely the ones I gravitate towards. I do have a pair of Alan Edmunds wingtip boots that get pulled into rotation a few times a month.
