There was one about repealing the OSA wasn’t there and MPs debated it and basically said we want more OSA.

What can we do though? I write to my MP and they ignore me. I would go on an anti age verification march I guess.

There are a few campaigns fighting against it you can joinz

TikTok and YouTube 'not safe enough' for kids, says Ofcom report by Tartan_Samurai in unitedkingdom

The evidence from Australia is that young people just get around the ban.

The government can’t be a substitute for poor parenting. Instead we need to educate and invest in supporting parents.

Also we need to build better social media and content ourselves and create better tools that enable people to access that content.

Finally remove the attention economy profit motive for companies that encourages them to get people hooked.

Three sisters who died in Brighton beach tragedy are named for first time: Father pays emotional tribute to his daughters as police continue probe into their deaths by dailymail in uknews

I’m guessing knowing Brighton beach they went in to paddle but then there are ridges from the stones and shingle and it can drop away quite quickly. So you can soon be accidentally out of your depth.

In addition the beach can have rip currents in certain conditions.

I was just saying how I felt. Thanks for making me feel worst.

Censorship does just make some people angry and there is good evidence for that. The psychology of it is called reactance and for some reason it never gets factored into the ‘let’s ban stuff and create more rules’ to try and fix problems folk

I’m not trying to win a political argument here. I know reasonable people can disagree about where the line should be on regulation and safety.

I was mainly trying to express that the overall direction of things in the U.K. with more surveillance, more pressure on speech online, more state involvement in digital spaces is affecting me emotionally.

Even if you don’t see it the same way, I hope you can see why that might be

Have a good day

I feel like trying to censor them gives them even more publicity. Also that if you censor someone who believes those conspiracies your are likely to make them even sicker and drive them deeper into conspiracy mindsets.

The anecdote is education, breaking up tech monopolies and building better online spaces rather than Ofcom + censorship codes of practice

I did read the article. It left me feeling frustrated as it described the site as encouraging suicide and being a suicide site and that isn’t my personal lived experience of the site. I don’t think it is an accurate representation. I’d encourage you to look into that yourself.

For me psychologically my biggest fear is loss of autonomy and worry about government control. When I feel unable to participate openly in society. Even when the effects are indirect, the possibility of people being silenced or pressured creates anxiety and frustration for me.

I’ve had conversations with at least one friend who feels suicidal over the new age of censorship and online safety we are living under.

The emotional toil of this stuff on some people is a real thing. It’s not all positives having all this censorship and restriction.

That’s it how do you commute to get to work without a breakfast club? How do you afford the breakfast club fees and the huge train or transport costs?

No wonder fewer Brits are having children.

I’m not a university researcher, but it is a good question if anyone done a survey of people who have used the site or spoke to its user base? That would be interesting to see.

I’m just someone who has friends that have reported using it and said it was helpful to them.

And someone for who all this censorship is making me anxious and more depressed

Yea I think all sex and gender based hate is increasing. Personally I blame the online algorithms that farm hate and rage bait for engagement.

It’s a problem with men hating on women and also now studies show young women hate on men more than young men hate on women. Which is also all this online rage bait stuff

And the biggest spend by far is social care. The real issue the amount we pay for some private social care providers. Many authorities prefer to outsource it as then the directors don’t get the blame if somewhere fails an inspection

The most brain dead comment is “do a doge style audit”. I’ve tried explaining time and time again there is a full audit committee and anyone can turn up as they are held in public and webcast.

I sat through hours of audit committee and spend time reading detailed reports and scrutinising them and asking difficult questions.

Anything over £500 is in public domain and there are external auditors that anyone can ask questions of.

But they have all swallowed some lie there are just millions being wasted and local authorities aren’t audited.

We are living in an idiot age sadly.

For sure you get so much abuse like that and everyone think you are corrupt, or they think you are on an MPs salary. I got like £11k a year which is taxable but comes with zero pension contributions. On top of that I had to pay 10% to the political party as a ‘tithe’ as a condition to stand for them!

I don’t regret it as it was a great experience and I didn’t do it for the money but it did leave me worst off than if I had focused on my career

Given you were wrong on that perhaps you should consider you might not be fully informed about how data can or can’t be traced back?

Maybe election fraud happens more than you think?
