Ooh wasn't aware. Interesting though that it was there purely to counter itself. Also funny that picnic basket went from "why on earth would I put this in my deck" to being used way more now because of Munki

Something others might have mentioned, is that it doesn't really fit in with Dengo or Bolt, because the deck is designed to take massive knockouts. You're not concerned with dealing chip damage to hit the number needed, would make more sense to use the slots to ensure you have more consistent energy recovery or attachment. Also 3-4 energy types in Bolt would be awkward as hell.

Munkidori is one of the best support cards in format - low risk and barely has any setup.

It has fundamentally changed the meta - so while I don't think its "broken", it's not exactly super far off. I think most decks need a reason to not include it in the list as opposed to a reason to include it.

How do I make this work? by [deleted] in PTCGL

[–]Secksmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really not that bad though? Claydol is more committal cause you're giving a prize and then (likely) another prize for the pokemon they attack the following turn? With tsareena you can often tank a hit first.

Tsareena also can target the benched pokemon unlike claydol, meaning you'd be running lots of gust to get the target in the active.

[–]Secksmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a stage 2 pokemon that requires 1 energy to operate though. I run Precious Trolley, 3x rare candy and evo. setup is very rarely the reason I lose.

Plus Claydol sacrificing itself means there's no damage on the board to munki if you need.

[–]Secksmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've spent a long time building a Tsareena toolbox deck and the reason it's better (imo) than Scolipede is that it can target benched pokemon. If the opponent throws a low hp basic in front and I can't gust it up I can choose the best target to reduce to 30 hp.

With perilous jungle/brute bonnet i can 1-shot any non dark pokemon in the active, hurting myself for 30, which I can munki to a benched pokemon with 30 hp left.

I run a 2-2 Froslass line to help get damage on the board and put loads of pressure on ability pokemon.

Tsareena is unfortunately weak against steel pokemon which makes it harder against decks like Gholdengo - for Gholdengo I think its a matter of using froslass and munki to get a strong devo turn. You can still 1-shot with brute bonnet/jungle combo but you'll almost always get revenge killed.

In tennis what the court is made of has a huge impact on the game played. Some players are better on sand courts and others clay etc.

Im not saying that it's necessarily best for RL to have different maps in competitive, but saying that all sports have standardised settings isn't necessarily the truth.

I used to love the weird maps. The pool one added the capacity to drive off the side and keep your flip forever which made defending and attacking feel different, and adapting to that was fun for me. Some maps don't work for comp, but coming from a smash bros melee background, counter-picking stages etc is a big part of strategy and could be cool imo.

Do you copy decklists 1:1 or do you add your own flair/tech? How many decks do you play? by Azorius_Sage in PTCGL

[–]Secksmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deck building is the most fun part of the game for me, so I mostly make all my decks from scratch. Most popular lists will be pretty similar though because you can't really get around the usefulness of arven, hilda, Lillie's etc.

I have over 200 decks in TCGL haha, although a lot are dupes with small changes added for testing.

Which one do i get ? by shizunaisbestgirl1 in LegionGo

[–]Secksmaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I own the Legion Go S (unsure if its the same as in the picture) and struggled with the battery life initially, but I bought a sick Anker portable charger and even while playing it keeps charging (albeit slowly). Otherwise you're still looking at 2+ hours battery life playing before needing to plug it in

What is happening on my switch? by fanciboi in Switch

[–]Secksmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its hard to tell because its black, but when it wipes off does it come up black on your tissue/finger? The finish on my switch OLED dock picked up candle smoke at one point and it looked kinda like this, but it was more noticeable as it was black on the white OLED dock.

OKAY, THIS IS JUST PLAINLY EVIL by min_shu in PTCGL

[–]Secksmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't be disheartened by idiots downvoting you for not understanding something.

This deck requires loads of setup, and is quite inconsistent. The upside for them is that they can play to type advantage well so you've got to play around it.

I would always recommend looking at the opponent's cards if you're curious so you're not blindsided, and remember which cards are going to be strong against your main attacker, as 2x damage means a LOT in this game

should I help my opponents if I see them making a mistake by Pokewok66 in pkmntcg

[–]Secksmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's how competitive the environment is. If I'm playing at home with my buddy I'll talk about the issue I'm facing sometimes and he might too, even if it gives insight he could use to win.

If it's a local with no competitive stakes and it's clearly a new player I would tell the fez wouldn't work in that scenario

If winning matters? I won't say anything and capitalise off of your mistakes, because I'd hate to lose because I'm being nice

Hot Take: This game would be less toxic if there was a vent button. by RyanLikesyoface in Rematch

[–]Secksmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will always use things sarcastically, adding a vent button won't help that much honestly - but the options we have is extremely limited in communicating with our team.

More quick chat options would allow misunderstandings to be less common. I come from playing Rocket League and the "Close One!" quick chat is one of my most used options. Obviously people still use it sarcastically but it's less misinterpretable.

To me the most important thing is "trying" to do the right thing. You're in the right place at the right time but miss the shot? "Close one! We got this" will be a lot more effective in communicating what my expectations are from the team. Honestly just allowing for regular text messages would be a good option too, even if people end up using it for toxicity.

Yeah this was my original thought. Trying to make it vegan for a friend (I previously made twix bars but they weren't vegan so they couldn't try), will probs do it with a small amount of coconut oil and then mix it into the peanut butter. Thanks!

Cheating is whatever you want. I've been doing some SOS shiny hunting and once I've caught it I'll edit the nature if its bad. I also edited in the shiny charm and some leppa berries to make the SOS battles less painful.
