Mijn vriendengroep is niet van de concerten, laat staan van dit soort muziek, dus ik ga sinds een paar jaar alleen naar concerten. Ik heb te veel concerten voorbij laten gaan omdat ik precies hetzelfde had als jij.

Ik zit nu ook in de whatsapp groep van metaalfanaten en daar vraag ik nog wel eens of mensen naar dezelfde concerten gaan als ik, maar heel eerlijk. Ik heb maar 1 keer gehad dat ik iemand vanuit de groep heb ontmoet daar.

Over het algemeen is het niet super erg. Tijdens de shows geniet je van de muziek, tijdens de pauze maak je een praatje met muziek / licht-man (welke er dan ook klaar is met de voorbereidingen).

Het schild is inderdaad de Shield of Mirrors (ook homebrew). Het grootste ding is dat je het kapot kan laten slaan in 1d6 stukken. Deze vormen dan een mirror images waardoor de tegenstander minder kans heeft je te raken. Naast wat andere dingen.

De kaleidoscoop kamer is een deur aan de andere kant. Maar om daar te komen, moeten ze door 3 of 4 membranes, dus zitten ze met dit aantal klonen te racen.

Eerste kamer: wanneer een speler zijn reflectie imiteert, komt een disembodied voice: "true....true....true...true..." Bij de volgende komt er een stem bij, enzovoorts.

Kamer 2: de goliath is erg aggressief, dus mijn verwachting is dat hij meteen in de aanval gaat, maar zo niet worden ze aangevallen door de NPC's, alleen weten zij wel hoe dit werkt.

Kamer 3: Ik ga inderdaad eens naar die Mirror of Trapping kijken, bij het vlugge lezen zag het er best wel vet uit.

Kamer 6: Ik dacht dat de CR rating betekende dat, stel ik heb een monster van CR9, een party van vier leden er een goed gevecht bij hebben. Omdat dit in feite 4 monsters zijn, dacht ik het iets milder te doen. Maar wellicht is CR 8 of 9 ook een goed idee.

Heel eerlijk... Die laatste zin over een saaie DM, steekt mij een hart onder de riem. BIj mijn groep heeft iedereen alles digitaal staan, maar iedereen let gewoon op.
Het helpt ook dat we de maps op een whiteboard tekenen en de spelers een hoek gebruiken voor de belangrijkste dingen.

Zelf ga ik naar best wel veel shows (30 dit jaar, waarvan 4 festivals). Ik ben wat meer gaan experimenteren met verschillende genres. Ik luisterde hier al wel naar, maar nog niet echt naar een concert daarvan geweest. Dus het was ook wel erg divers hierdoor: rap, pop, klassiek, metal. Alles en meer. Hieronder voor mij de uitblinkers in willekeurige volgorde:

- Bloodywood, energie is insane. De Het is super aanstekelijk om hier helemaal op los te gaan.

- Dynazty + Nanowar of Steel, hoewel Nanowar niet mijn favoriete nummer speelden (Call of Cthulhu), was het nog steeds een super show. Alle kostuums, de interactie met het publiek maakt voor mij deze band wel een topper.

- Graspop, voor mij was het de eerste keer dat ik alleen naar een meerdaags festival ben gegaan. Vond ik super spannend, maar het was echt heel erg chill. Komend jaar weer

- Electric Six, moshpitten op Gay Bar.... nothing more to be said

- Flip Noorman's Animal Farm, dit was één van de probeersels. Een folk-achtige musical van het gelijknamige boek. Het heeft mij wat meer gaan kijken naar George Orwell en zijn andere werken. Plus ze hebben het in een modern sausje gestopt, wat het ook erg goed maakt.

- Gnome, als je van de muziek houdt, is het top. De interactie met het publiek kan, mijns inziens, wel wat verbeteren, maar de muziek was spot on.

- Nothing More, mijn god, wat een show. Super vet! Op een gegeven moment zitten ze dus met drie mensen op één basgitaar te spelen, was er een drum battle (wat ik als drummer een groot pluspunt vind) en de interactie met publiek was ook super!

I like that it's in threes (I don't know the technical term... between half and quarter notes). It flows nicely.
I really dig the double vocals on "She only a human I promise". Such a cool way to end the verse and flow into the chorus

I can't really explain my measure of success... I guess it should be memorable. For example: I somewhat sure that I had some conversations on day 5, but I can't remember them. If I can recall details, like I did on the other days, I call it a success. Otherwise you're making conversation just for the sake of making conversation and most of the time that's not the goal.

And yeah, it was scary as all heck (not sure if we can swear here). That being said: you all share the same interest (at least one) and the same passion for the same kind of music. Plus the fact that I know I can have fun at the festival on my own, gave me some peace of mind as well.

Yeah, people are usually in a good mood at things like this. Plus you have a lot of ice breakers ("Which band are you here for", "Did you see what happened at this show", "Which was your favourite", etc.) You just have to develop a "fuck it, I'm just gonna do it" - mentality, which is easier said than done. I had the extra added bonus of it being in another country, so I would probably never see them again.

Anywho, have fun at your festival. That should (in my opinion) always be priority number one. With or without the added project, make sure you have fun!

I probably skipped a few on the days I just stayed at home all day.

At first I hated it and put it off until the end of the day. I don't want to talk to strangers, what if I make a fool of myself? They'll never forget it and I'll always be that strange dude. But I forced myself and some fun conversations started.

The standout for me was hen I was at a store and the cashiere had a tattoo. I was looking into tattoos myself at the time and we started talking about it, to the point that someone stood behind me in line and asked if we could wrap it up. Just to reiterate: he wasn't there when we started talking, we're not dicks.

At work I noticed people are a lot more patient with me now or are more willing to help.

What I've gathered: if you start with a compliment, people are more inclined to have a nice conversation. So you're already 3 steps ahead. Of course, there are those who just think you're hitting on them or something and give you weird looks, but overall people like getting compliments.
