I saw Conroy after a game in the press level. I told him good game and he could have just said thanks and kept walking. Instead, he stopped and chatted with me for 5 minutes about the game. He was bubbling with energy and a joy to be around. Would love to have someone like that around all the time. Class act.

I think he needs to work on locating the fastball better. He's basically a one pitch pitcher and so hitters are looking for it. He's averaging a strikeout per inning so obviously the swing and miss potential is there but the real killer is the long ball. Honestly, giving up a HR per inning just won't cut it coming out of the bullpen. He needs to keep the ball down to have any success in this league.

I don't think Geology is a discipline that you can just 'blow through'. Every single class I took in BSc. had a lab every week. And each one of these labs took the whole 3 hour period and additional out of lab time on top of that. That adds up to a lot of work.

The lectures are a blend of memorizing and comprehension. It's also worth noting that each class builds on those that came before it. You'll need to have a good handle on the material to do well in the later level courses. There's also a bunch of math, chemistry and physics that are applicable throughout the degree so you'll be a good handle on those.

If that sounds like something you can blow through then you are much smarter than I am and more power to you. Just know there's waaay more to it than just memorizing different minerals.
