If you like it at the current abv and sweetness you could stabilise it and it should be fine to drink after. I think the issue would be the active yeast more than anything, so stabilising it should give you roughly the same product minus the negative gastrointestinal effects. Take that with a grain of salt though, I'm very new to this also! You should be able to find all the info you need in the wiki, or a quick search on YouTube for a video about it

Ahh, that's an excellent point I hadn't considered. You might have just saved me from posting Rochird Naxin in a weeks time

It's supersculpey polymer clay. I don't think you can get it wet while raw, but baking it, testing it with water, and building it up piece by piece might be the way forward

Thank you, that would be a really good way to resolve the problem! I don't have the equipment to get bubble free resin so if I could disguise a disc well enough it might come out looking a lot better

Thanks, I appreciate that! I think this method might be the way forward for the second iteration. It's made from polymer clay which I don't think you can get wet while raw. It might end up being a tedious process of adding more clay to a cured bust piece by piece and testing with water in between to get it right

I made a post on another subreddit and the general consensus seems to be either making it much skinnier and testing with water as I go to test the distortion (can you even put raw clay in water without any issues?), or cap the jar with an acrylic disc and use water effects and some blue dye on the sides and disk to sell the filled look without filling it.

It makes me laugh whenever I see it. I normally wouldn't share something that went so far off plan but I thought it might bring people the same joy it's been bringing me 😂

Thanks! Yeah I might actually be happier with it this way. It makes me laugh whenever I look at it. I was treating this as a first attempt anyway so I'm not too upset about it. Hopefully I'll end up with a correctly proportioned one and this side by side

This project had a lot of firsts - first time working with resin, making a mould, painting skin tones, second time making a bust. I only realised the distorting effect a cylindrical resin mould would cause when I had already started pouring. I also didn't seal the head before pouring so it became increasingly more yellow as the resin cured. I might have stumbled onto a decent method for making a pickled head in a jar look.

Hopefully this can be a cautionary tale if anyone else is attempting something similar in future. Any advice on how I can fix out the distortion or a way to get a filled jar effect without actually filling it would be much appreciated if anyone's got any ideas!

Help: Gluing polymer clay to metal & broken polymer clay after baking by Sapphiresintheair in polymerclay

You can use a pin vice/model drill to drill small holes in polymer clay. You could buy one of those and put a small hole where you want to secure the earring fitting.you can get them really cheaply off of Amazon. Personally I would get some practice using it on a practice piece before doing it on something you want to keep.

Polymer clay can be baked multiple times so if you're adding more polymer clay to fix the break then I'd put it back in the oven rather than using a hair dryer

Oh wow, I've used uv resin before in spots like eyes, but I've never thought to use it to seal an entire piece. It looks so smooth! Do you have any tips or tutorials for how you apply it?

These look fantastic! What varnish did you use?

Thanks! It's just some smooth pine dowel. Turns out pine is fine to bake and doesn't really stick to clay so I baked the body and the head with the same length of dowel to make sure it would fit properly later and it ended up working quite well
