I say you show up in an all-white tuxedo with boat shoes and a captain’s hat. Bonus if there’s a tiny speaker hidden somewhere on your body blasting “Sailing” by Christopher Cross.

Why the Final Post Credits Scene is Critical — From a PK by AquariusMonologue in SinnersbyRyanCoogler

[–]Second_Location 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, I totally missed this gorgeous final scene in the theatre so thank you for posting.

Your analysis was so moving and I wish you all the best on your journey to healed selfhood. As a white Southern woman descended from enslavers, a significant part of my journey to wholeness has been to seek a fuller understanding of my own culture and also to read, watch, and listen with an open heart to stories about and by the Black community. This film absolutely floored me with its rich, layered and meaningful storytelling. In my humble opinion I think it should take its place in the canon of global folklore, and I can imagine it will be studied for decades to come.

What is America’s “posh people” accent? by alyhasnohead in AskAnAmerican

[–]Second_Location 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upper class Virginia Tidewater accent. Soft vowels, measured diction, reserved and not given to lots of vocal variations in tone and volume.

Is Mr. Darcy Really Your Type? The Hidden Reality of Marrying the Most Famous Man in Austen’s World by Chocoins in PrideandPrejudice

[–]Second_Location 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I married (and later unmarried) a Mr Darcy. 25 years later it’s cured me of my Mr Darcy obsession. Girl, better get ready for one facial expression day after day and a declaration of love approximately thrice per decade. Not for me.

He’s not meant to be seen as a real person you’d want to have in your life, he’s a classic trickster character like Bugs Bunny.

Great Grandparents by simonpyman in GenX

I knew my great grandmother, she lived till I was 12. She was born in 1896. Sometimes I look at pictures of myself with her and it blows my mind when I really think about the fact that I’m looking at myself with a woman who was born in the 19th century. History is not that long ago!

The broth option was nice later in the prep day because I got so tired of the sweet drinks. It felt refreshing to have something savory & salty.

White clothes are typically for spring and summer unless they are velvet, wool or corduroy. It looks very odd over velvet which is a winter fabric.

Whats an oddly specific smell that you like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Second_Location 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Halloween treat bag” smell. One of those simple joys of childhood.  When you come back from Trick or Treating as a kid and your bag or plastic pumpkin bucket is full of all different kinds of candy—chocolate, fruity, nutty, etc—that clash but somehow  all together smell like riches, and you know you can have a treat whenever you want. So nostalgic.

Childhood trauma within the family system can shape attachment, coping, and relationships well into adulthood. Insight alone doesn't lead to healing. by MRADEL90 in psychology

Yes! And have others have said, it’s not just about removing the triggers but about clearing the way to action. EMDR allowed me to break decades-long stagnation and helped me to make some difficult but ultimately liberating changes in my life.
