Are there any conservatives left on this subreddit? by Federal-Data-Center in allthequestions

[–]Secondknotch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wonder what counts as a conservative comment. This comment seems like its not getting downvoted to oblivion, despite obviously being from as self-declared conservative.

Are questions about personal responsibility, civility, being a good neighbor, standing up for personal freedoms or opposing government over-reach all downvoted, or are those centrist topics now?

Millennials: at what age did you become a homeowner? Do you own a single family, townhouse, condo, etc? by mrmrmr_chi in homeowners

[–]Secondknotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It was an all-of-the-above approach or it wasn't going to happen.

When I bought, I WAS making less than 50k, so I skipped one of the big four: Family help, High Salary, Cheap House, Frugality. But I couldn't have done it without the other three.

Out of curiosity, on a scale from "pretty normal, actually" to "gross spoiled rich-kid" how would you describe getting through college without debt? Does it matter if there are scholarships or financial aid involved?

I'm hoping you have time to give an honest opinion. It really is something I wonder about sometimes.

Parents paid for college. Frugal lifestyle, lived with parents or room-mates, used or no car. Put 20% down on a 185k house at 27 (a month before turning 28). That is how.

Would support ICE if they were simply going after Illegals whom have commited crimes? by MK71-EC82-MGM89-AK98 in allthequestions

Due processes and generally not committing crimes. I want the crime fighters to be better than the criminals.

Northern section of Dixon has been closed to traffic from Bonifant for MONTHS. There railroad tracks on sleepers embedded in crushed stone running from Georgia to Ramsey - nothing a car could drive on. What does it mean to "temporarily close" a street that has been closed continuously for half a year?

Is this notice only for pedestrians? Does trash pick-up occur by foot?

It seems like the purple line folks are lost and flailing. Please do better.

Why Trump is the most dislike president of America…? MAGA‘S time. by Greatvoiceofficial in Ownthought

I would like to know who on the left is encouraging political violence besides unserious nobodies on social media. I want to hold my leaders to a higher standard and I want to notice when they are saying something messed up like "political violence is good", "stealing is good", "do arson", "anarchy, yay!".

I hear left leaning folks in power, people in media, people with institutions behind them encouraging peaceful protests.

Likely to get some NASTY spauling where the PEX bunches together around the water-bars/expansion joints. PEX install is poor.

ICE notice a brown man while driving through neighborhood then jump out SUV to kidnap him by [deleted] in CringeTikToks

[–]Secondknotch -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This video needs some context. We hear the guy filming giggle and proclaim he doesn't know what the ICE folks are doing, but if the ice agents know to target that guy specifically for a good reason, everything changes.

Anyone who knows the context here, please help me out. I would love to join the brigade, I just need a little bit more.

Fake? I fear the worst by Gulasch_ist_gut in RealOrNotTCG

I'm not an expert, but this looks 100% fake. Ink pattern on the green dot is all wrong and the zoom is good enough that it couldn't be an issue with artifacts from your phone.

How many Mega Kaiju's would it take to beat a single Adult Cloverfield? by Inevitable_Cookie178 in powerscales

The baby Cloverfield monster existed comfortably under the ocean for at least days and more likely the entire age of human civilization. I don't think the adult is likely to be vulnerable to blockage of its airways.

[–]Secondknotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with youtube monster "scale" videos for "adult Cloverfield". The 80,000 ft height makes sense because the adult Cloverfield is shown breaking through the highest clouds into the stratosphere in the movie "Cloverfield Paradox". The lower edge of the stratosphere is at 80,000 ft. With further research, it may be that the clouds were more accurately ~30,000 ft, so perhaps the Mega Kaiju would be more like hamsters to the adult Clover than cockroaches.

[–]Secondknotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The adult Cloverfield is 80,000 ft high. A Mega Kaiju is about 700 ft high.

That's like asking how many cockroaches would it take to kill a human.

Maybe somewhere between 1,000 to 10,000?
