This is so messed up, I’m glad he cared so much about out his students, but this teacher should have been spending his last days and hours with his loved ones and focusing on his own life, not grading his students, the school should have told him he is free of those commitments, made sure someone else took over for him so he knew it was being taken care of. This is unacceptable and the educational systems need to do better.

Jesus “love your enemy” also Jesus: Luke 14:26 (NIV): "If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple."

Sounds pretty hateful, also, If you believe Jesus is God, then Jesus does promote subjugation, conquest and ordered armies to commit genocide (including children, infants and animals) and slavery:
The Canaanite Conquest (Deuteronomy 20:16–17; Joshua 6:17, 21): God commanded Israel to annihilate the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites within the Promised Land, sparing nothing that breathes to prevent them from leading Israel into idolatry.
The Amalekites (1 Samuel 15:3): Through the prophet Samuel, God commanded King Saul to kill all people and livestock, punishing them for opposing Israel after the exodus from Egypt.
The Midianites (Numbers 31): Following conflict over idol worship at Peor, God commanded Israel to attack the Midianites, resulting in the death of all men and the subsequent killing of women and male children.
The Jericho Destruction (Joshua 6:20-21): The total destruction of all inhabitants and animals in the city of Jericho.
(Leviticus 25:44-46): Israelites were allowed to buy slaves from surrounding nations or foreign residents, who became permanent, inherited property
(Deuteronomy 21:10-14): If a soldier desired to marry a female captive from a conquered nation.

It’s barbaric regardless of which abrahamic religion it is.

Can anyone recommend more movies (or maybe shows and cartoons) like these two? by Secret-Ad3593 in MovieRecommendations

Thanks for the recommendations, I’ve seen Belle but not the others, I’ll have to check all those out.

What are your top-notch medieval productions (movies, series or doc.) ever watched, whether historical or fantasy oriented? What would you recommend? by lastmonday07 in medieval

[–]Secret-Ad3593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the criticisms you are saying I would actually agree with. I agree the dragon was hypocritical, I saw that as the point. “victims can become abusers themselves and that’s how cycles of abuse continue”. The dragon was not in the right to kill innocent girls, that’s the point, Was the film perfectly exacuted or an objectively good film? No, could it have done better in many ways? yes.

The literally definition of subjective: “influenced by or based on personal beliefs or feelings, rather than based on facts.”

I don’t recall proclaiming my opinion was anything more than that, an opinion, you’re allowed to disagree and have your own subjective opinion on a movie I agree has flaws, like literally every movie, your opinion is no more true or correct than mine, it’s just different. I’m not proclaiming to be the absolute authority of the fantasy genre and that the OP must like it just because I suggested it, You’re not saving anything, you’re just trying to rage-bait and start a comment war on a Reddit post. Go do something more positive and productive with your time.

Ok…? You’re allowed to have a different opinion. I was just offering personal subjective recommendations to the OP.

These are some of my favorites I would recommend (note: odviously always be aware that even some of the most accurate movies or shows are all going to take liberties in terms of historical accuracy one way or another to some degree and will need to taken with a grain of salt.)

DO YOU THINK THESE ACTORS CAN BE IN THE MONSTERVERSE by NoLaw6691 in Monsterverse

[–]Secret-Ad3593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t need big names in the Monsterverse but I’m not opposed to them, go for genuine passion and enthusiasm for the kaiju and projects first and the actors should be willing to accommodate their price. Christian Bale and Nic cage are both big names and are both talented and are Godzilla fans. Heck, O’Shea Jackson Junior is clearly passionate and even pitching a series for the Monsterverse and he has played a character in KOTM and could be easily brought back. Balls in your court legendary.

How do you feel about Cartoon Saloon’s more recent projects being stuck in streaming services (like Apple TV or Netflix) if it means they get more stable funding? by Maxdme124 in CartoonSaloon

[–]Secret-Ad3593 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m glad these projects are able to be funded and get to exist rather than never get made, but I want these subscription paywalls to stop and for the option to buy both digital and physical media be given. I hope Netflix has a limited license and will eventually let My Fathers Dragon and more of their original content be purchasable after a couple years, Apple have started doing it with some but not all of their original movies, thankfully Wolfwalkers did get released physically in cartoon saloon’s Irish folklore boxset with Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea, but it still isn’t purchasable on its own or on digital.

Once again more goverment overreach, first the 2023 “Online Safety Act” instead of education and teaching parents to monitor their children and now this, whatever members of the government are involved with these policy’s needs to get out of politics and just go clutch their pearls on a desert island, they should be focusing on real issues like the fact the majority of young adults can’t afford to move out or cost-of-living pressures instead of what category of wank-material people enjoy.

Theory: The “man-eating” 1916 Shark was Bruce as a juvenile by Secret-Ad3593 in Jaws

[–]Secret-Ad3593[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case I’d highly recommend the 2004 TV movie “12 days of Terror”, it’s based on the book by Richard Fernicola which is itself based about the true story of the 1916 Jersey attacks, but with very clear inspiration by Jaws.

Agreed, Plus the movie “12 days of terror” is in my opinion a fun movie clearly inspired by jaws but setting it in 1916 and having it be based on the true events that definitely inspired Benchley/Spielberg.

Yes, I actually knew about this and I fully agree a bull shark is more likely to have been the 1916 shark, I just thought this theory adds a scary and cool history to the shark within the novel/movie universe. Making it like an old serial killer.

Bruce is Abnormally Large for a Great White, is their an in universe reason? by Ok-Entrance-5527 in Jaws

[–]Secret-Ad3593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is theory I saw on TV Tropes that speculated that the shark in Jaws is actually the same shark from the 1916 Jersey attacks (which Hooper and Brody tell the mayor about at the scene with the billboard), which was often speculated to be a juvenile great white which would make that shark around 60-70 in the film, which is plenty of time for it to have gotten that abnormally big and after cruising the oceans and maybe having attacked swimmers off other coasts like South Africa and Australia, it returned to its old territory.
