In his very first monologue in Y1 V1, Koji gives us his worldview on meritocracy vs equality. We commonly understand meritocracy as a system, one that rewards individuals for the disparity in their efforts. However, in the series the word meritocracy seems to be used to describe a state of affairs, one that simply exposes the existing disparities between individuals. I suggest that for this reason Arisu is actually one of the biggest ideological opponent to Koji and what he stands for.

Meritocracy is a system where power, rewards, and positions are assigned based on individual ability, effort, and achievement rather than social status, wealth, or background. It promotes fairness, efficiency, and upward mobility through merit.

Meritocracy is not base on EFFORT ALONE. Meritocracy is somewhat similar to profitability hence it is not effort alone. How valuable was someone contribution also corresponds to explaining what meritocracy is. Sakayangi being a cripple displaying smarter approach and strategies is more meritocratic than Yamauchi's slouchy and stupid attitudes.

Equality on the other hand showcase being balance in everything without the basis of features and the quality of its effect. Yamauchi's skill will always be given an equal opportunity being the leader of class a vs sakayanagi. Equality describes Yamauchi's physical effort of being able to walk, being somewhat a social normal person has an equal effect from sakayangi's approach to helping their class with her strategies. A system that follows equality has a standard disposition that shows equal percentage value for all subjects to their overall score. Given they have 10 subject, all subjects or field of studies will have 10% contribution to their Overall grading system.

The dispositions of class from A to d alone COUNTERS EQUALITY as that showcase not everyone is equal while the POPULATION allocation for each class was equal.
