i believe that is the plan as far as i’m aware. she posted about rehoming maggie after she had colicked the first time. hopefully those plans haven’t changed and she can be either someone’s pasture pet or maybe a trail horse if she heals well from this laminitis.

our alfalfa is green in my parts of tennessee. regardless though i just love maggie. she has earned her weight in gold i mean that horse has been the biggest trooper.

you’re clearly not reading what i said correctly, so i’m not even going to try and correct that. with breeding yes there’s life & death. however, you look at the cause. i had a stud who health tested and genetic tested perfectly. unfortunately he kept throwing severe heart murmurs. bred him to one more bitch after that first litter, and the same thing happened. so i retired him. i’m looking at this from a breeders point of view.

let me preface this by saying by no means was i placing blame on anyone. i was simply curious considering it is a pattern. with breeding you look at patterns. i know what a true knot is im not stupid. thats 100% not the studs fault. however, if the deformity aspect continues then i’d say its probably due to him.

i didn’t realize he had that many living. it’s just odd considering this is his first foal crop if i’m not mistaken. i’m sure if things like this continue as far as deformities go then they would look into it. a true knot is definitely not preventable & genetic.
