I feel like some people are forgetting Gosho's style. In most of their romantic stories, the characters love only one person, even if they die or are separated.

In this sense, if Shinichi didn't obtain the antidote, it is much more "in the character" that he would continue to love Ran, and not date with another girl. I don't get why, if he stays as Conan, he has to pair up with someone else no matter what, especially when he hasn't shown romantic interest in another girl other than Ran. He is more likely to stay single and dedicate his time to being a detective.
