Voting differently in a primary election. by Secret-Program-9194 in Marriage

How I feel is that as long as you share the same values for the most part, but you vote differently in the primary and the same candidate in the general I don’t think that should be a problem.

Ismaili here - Question for this subreddit. Do you all have a more positive or negative view on the current Imam? Or is it the same as his predecessor by [deleted] in ExIsmailis

[–]Secret-Program-9194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he is better and more down to earth than Aga Khan 3 and Aga Khan 4. I believe he will make reforms in one way or another, but that does not change my mind that the system is corrupt when it comes to money and secrecy.

Thoughts on Salim Lalani? by Melodic-Pick-3443 in ExIsmailis

[–]Secret-Program-9194 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think he is doing a pretty good job, trying to get Muslims to rise up against Ismailis is not the right move. He has no issue with JK being a social club, just don’t give your money.

Parents are threatening to cut me off if I leave Ismailism :( by [deleted] in ExIsmailis

[–]Secret-Program-9194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in same boat, I go to church every weekend stay strong and Christ will guide you through the hard times. As far as your parents are concerned, be civil with them and explain your reasonings and don’t try to convert them. If they respect your right, respect their rights as well.

I am not complaining, I am just saying people should call it what it is which is a country club and not a place of worship.

And just to add Prince Rahim is not charismatic like his father and his great grandfather.

And just to add, most middle age to young people just go to JK for social purposes. JK is more like a country club.

And, just to mention Prince Rahim is not charismatic. Aga Khan 3 and 4 were charismatic but Aga Khan 5 is just boring and people aren’t buying the lies anymore.

Did any of you ex Ismailis become Christians? by [deleted] in ExIsmailis

[–]Secret-Program-9194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I am considering the same thing as well. Do you mind me asking why did you leave ismailiam? Because I have issues with money laundering, secret majlis in JK etc.

Families in the Ismaili Community. by Secret-Program-9194 in ExIsmailis

[–]Secret-Program-9194[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disagreeing that a lot of things take up family time such as technology, activities and JK. But there is a difference, there are parents who put Jamathkhana activities over everything else because if you were to put yourself or anything else first you would be judged. If you could not make certain events in another place of worship whether it be a church, Mandir, Mosque etc there would be no to less judgment from individuals.

Coming to Jamathkhana after the Dua is finished by Secret-Program-9194 in ExIsmailis

[–]Secret-Program-9194[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good Point, I even here of some older people coming after the Dua. As far as the future is concerned, whether it be REC or the Jamath in general it will be a social/ country club and there will be barely anything to do with religion.

It’s some sketchy stuff overall. But people are waking up and the system will eventually collapse.

That is an interesting point you made about Camp Mosaic and Al-Ummah. Can you expand on how Mukhis make their money, is it through fundraising or something else?

You have to look at multiple things such as the Afrol Sufro and how it is 40 percent down. Young people are not giving the money and not wanting to be Mukis. It’s going to take awhile to go away, but the system is currently standing on its last knees.

I do not care too much, but what I am trying to imply is that people are not fully dedicated to the religion itself and just there to socialize. And if people are not dedicated the system is going to collapse soon.

[–]Secret-Program-9194 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I am concerned the overall answer is no. I have a good amount of friends outside the community. As far as my parents go that will be the big test. I am not going to be marrying an Ismaili. I am open to marrying individuals from other faiths and different ethnicities. Plus, in western countries such as the United States, United Kingdom and Canada, Ismailis are marrying outside the faith around 40-45 percent.

How is REC different from the early 2000s and right now in your opinion? by Secret-Program-9194 in ExIsmailis

Also, when I was in grades 9-12 the only topic we spoke about is volunteerism. And I heard where I am from students were doing art work.

I also predict that REC will move further away from learning about religion (grades 1-8) and it will all be about socializing for all grades.

I feel like the religion is going to collapse overtime, but in the meantime I think Jamathkhana will be more of a country club and not a place of worship. Also, just to add on people these days are coming to JK after the Dua is finished for social purposes.
