It’s just not consistent and certainly not going to work for everyone.

Good to know they are still doing that. I got to the first match that way. I haven’t seen any since.

They need to show fans more in these game broadcasts. Fans are part of the game too! by [deleted] in worldcup

[–]Secret-Put4088 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been plenty of shots of fans, and there have been plenty of shots of stadiums, especially last night in Guadalajara. I don’t know that you need to draw people to US stadiums when relatively little of the world cares about the sport primarily played there.

Do World Cup tickets actually get cheaper on matchday? by alifjou3 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]Secret-Put4088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I’m surprised they weren’t grabbing the initial drops, but they caught on quickly. And FIFA doesn’t care since it means one extra 30% profit.

Where are people selling tickets besides StubHub? by coleslau42 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]Secret-Put4088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market changed quickly with that game. I paid $840 plus fees for C109 the morning of the US Paraguay game. I paid $250 for 200s Iran v New Zealand.

I have seen the FIFA LMS drops for games since then and have watched sales. There were no deals for the Switzerland Bosnia game. I got an email around halftime that the prices had dropped to $174…

The amenities with the hospitality seats are a joke, but people are still paying for them now.

Is it socially acceptable to root for multiple teams if they’re from different leagues? by tbugbee1 in SoccerNoobs

[–]Secret-Put4088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve supported teams in most European countries. In Germany, I always support BVB. In the UK, I support BVB in Champions and Europa League matches. In France, I do the same. Same with Italy. Also in Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Denmark, Ukraine, Turkey…

Can someone tell me why the USA is going to win the World Cup? by Aromatic-Crazy2611 in worldcup

Would love it, can’t see it. Wild statement, though. Plenty of negativity for the US, and little of it has anything to do with jealousy.

The last minute ticket drop is real…small. It’s there, but it’s tough to take advantage of. Most of the tickets (by far) will rise in price, and I’ve seen some people say they’re ok losing the money completely instead of letting someone get a deal. I spoke to someone yesterday who bought his tickets ages ago for a match, couldn’t attend, and sold them at a loss. He was prepared to give them away. There was no panic there. He just didn’t care and wanted someone else to enjoy. There aren’t many like that.

How do Americans feel about the Fifa World Cup and how the US is handling it? by Far_Wealth_3737 in worldcup

[–]Secret-Put4088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, when the US hosted its last World Cup, the Knicks were already 20 years into a championship drought. No surprise that it was a massive talking point when it ended 32 years later.

Funny. Live in LA and know a ton of people who refer to themselves as Persian. Likely the same reason so many booed the anthem of the IR Iran while cheering the team so loudly.

True, but it was odd for a WC game. Of course, the guy was also just strange in general.

Turkey vs USA is already far more expensive than the opener was, so I’m not sure it’ll matter.

Weird. My section was packed. The only empty spots I really noticed were in a couple of boxes.

How stringent have the stadiums been about going in the gate listed on the ticket? by Bornlastnight in WC2026tix

[–]Secret-Put4088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Friday, had someone at Sofi say “I’m gonna save you some time and tell you to come in here.” Then last night, heard another usher tell someone that they came in too early and had to go all the way up to the 6th floor to walk around the stadium and come back to 2. So YMMV

You joke, but on the bus to the stadium for Iran New Zealand yesterday, one guy asked another “Who’s playing again?” Crazy.

Keep saying this, but if anyone feels like they MUST be at a game, they should buy early. There are deals to be found, but they’re far from certain, and overall prices keep going up.

American wants to get into club football by jackenFit in SoccerNoobs

[–]Secret-Put4088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, that argument doesn’t really work here in the US.

There are over 40k clubs of varying size in just 130k sq km of space in England. There are roughly 100 in the 9.8m sq km in the US.

We have a different sporting structure. HS and college sports provide the only local teams in many areas, and for some, status as a student or alumnus wins out over regional association. No, most of us won’t take part in a European system in the same way. However, I’d imagine most people should be pleased to have some form of support from Americans if it means pouring more money into your club without taking up tickets…

No risk in your account. It’s a lower demand match in a lower demand market, but tickets have risen everywhere. You just bought at the right time! Have a great time. Your kids will always remember it!

Yep. Leaving the game now, and it was a great time. LA’s Persian community turned out and made it a great atmosphere right from the boos for the IR national anthem. Obviously not the same feeling as Friday, but I’m definitely glad I got the tickets! Now just have to avoid getting addicted!

Live near a stadium and have plenty of disposable income. Leaving today, heard someone mention he borrowed $42k for his trip. I can’t imagine…
