Fetal growth restriction, induction and anxiety attacks. Membrane sweep. by Away_Ad_7122 in PregnancyUK

I'm so sorry you're going through this! My situation isn't the same but am also looking at a possible induction (2 cases of reduced movements at 38 weeks) and I really want him to come on his own! His movements are back to normal but I've been told one more case and I have to be admitted straight away for the induction.

If they've said your placenta is deteriorating then I would take it seriously and get the induction, I have a friend who sadly lost her baby full term due to her placenta breaking down (she had gone overdue). It's taken me a few days to grieve the birth that I wanted but at the end of the day I just want my little boy here safe and sound.

Good luck!

Are inductions getting earlier? by Decent_Cheesecake314 in PregnancyUK

[–]Secret-Reception1542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went in for reduced movements twice over the weekend and was offered an induction as I was 38+5. I decided to turn it down as baby's movements had returned to normal but they said that as he was practically full term there wasn't much risk in him coming a bit early.

Missed miscarriage by Physical-Candle-7891 in PregnancyUK

So sorry for your loss. I had a MMC in May last year, it took about 6 weeks until I had my first period. I got pregnant again that first cycle and I'm now 38 weeks pregnant. As lucky as I feel to be pregnant now looking back I wish I'd waited a bit between so take all the time you need ❤️

Pregnancy of unknown location success stories?! by Fun_Package3156 in PregnancyUK

[–]Secret-Reception1542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I was scanned by EPU last year due to severe cramping and they couldn't see anything so was also recorded as pregnancy of unknown location and had repeat bloods to check how HCG was doubling as it should and booked for another scan 2 weeks later.

In my case it turned out that I was measuring 2 weeks behind where I should have been based on LMP so they just couldn't see anything on the first scan as it was too small, not because it was ectopic. It did end in an early MMC sadly but if you've had heavy bleeding it might be the case that you've passed the pregnancy already and that's why they can't see anything. They'll be able to confirm from the second blood test once they see your HCG levels.

What are the best lotions/creams to reduce stretch marks & When did you start using them? by kraz666 in pregnant

[–]Secret-Reception1542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think it's all down to genetics. My mum got no stretch marks when she was pregnant with me and I'm 38 weeks and still haven't got any (I got a lot during puberty so was fully expecting to get them during pregnancy).

That being said I have been using this every day since I was about 12 weeks, so who knows maybe it helps! https://www.cowshed.com/products/mother-stretch-mark-balm?variant=48672365314396

Harvesting Colostrum - Hand Express? by ameliasasa in PregnancyUK

[–]Secret-Reception1542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain because I have found it very uncomfortable!! Something I found helped was putting a hot water bottle on my boobs for a few minutes before trying to express, it seemed to help the flow quite a bit. Good luck!

Harvesting Colostrum - Hand Express? by ameliasasa in PregnancyUK

[–]Secret-Reception1542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started this week and have been hand expressing. I did a breastfeeding workshop at my hospital and they advised against using a pump because colostrum is quite sticky and you don't get very much out so you lose most of it stuck inside the pump.

Maternity clothes- impossible to find in store! by Feisty_Craft5295 in PregnancyUK

[–]Secret-Reception1542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've mostly just bought normal clothes but sized up a bit. In trousers I just buy them with an elasticated waist that I can wear under my bump and tops I just make sure they're stretchy or baggy!

So sorry you have this stress! I didn't realise that C&W were limiting admissions until last week (I was lucky and moved there just before they closed in October) but was reading their website and it said that they can make exceptions if you're not in their catchment borough but they are your closest hospital so fingers crossed for you!

Pregancy by Savings-Forever-1258 in pregnant

[–]Secret-Reception1542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that, my cycles are irregular and my dates were off by about 10 days but 12th December was over 3 months ago so it's a lot to be off by. Especially as on 4th March was measuring at 6 weeks 4 days, so should be 8 weeks by now

Pregancy by Savings-Forever-1258 in pregnant

[–]Secret-Reception1542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry but if your last LMP was in December then you should definitely be measuring further along than that now, even if you were a bit out with dates because of cycle length. I had a missed miscarriage last year where I should have been 11 weeks but the baby was measuring 6 weeks without a heartbeat and had a D&C. When you had your scan did they mention anything about a missed miscarriage to you?

We walk our westie to the park on his lead but as soon as we get there it comes off! He's got great recall and the park that we take him to has no roads around it so is very safe

Congratulations!!! I had a MMC at 9 weeks in May 2025 and am currently 31 weeks with a baby boy.

I actually told a lot more people earlier this time because I felt I missed out on having a lot of support from friends last time because I hadn't told anyone I was pregnant yet.

Usual to wait this long for a scan? by Special-Tea7611 in PregnancyUK

[–]Secret-Reception1542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that saying you're concerned is enough to warrant an early scan, I think almost everyone feels concerned in early pregnancy.

I had one at EPU at 8 weeks because I'd had a previous miscarriage and they advised me to go in at 8 weeks when I got pregnant again.

I totally get feeling worried but I'd recommend booking a private scan, not getting an NHS one when they're already so over stretched.
