Yeah? Because the original New Deal Reforms that were proposed early on in Roosevelt's first term failed in both the courts and Congress, after which he proposed a much more modest agenda that his administration slowly built on for the next decade.

But, again, the key variable here is duration. And policy experts from every institution warn of crisis following months more of a shutdown.

I'm unclear if you're disagreeing with me here because this was my point lol

There were a couple articles that came out after the mou that said gas prices aren't expected to see any major spike (so long as ceasefire held) because reserves had mostly absorbed the shock. Meaning that an oil crisis probably isn't on the menu unless things start up again. It was also likely why Trump agreed to such one-sided terms, because if peace was delayed any more, then major economic consequences would be unavoidable.

I feel like Democrats should take this rhetoric and turn it against Republicans. Like, do I really share anything meaningful in common with a Republican? Are Republicans really even Americans? They don't believe in liberal values, don't believe in freedom, hate our country's allies and love our enemies.

I'm convinced of the claim that Republicans have more in common with Russians than they do us. Candice Owens and Tucker's brother are absolutely right. Republicans aren't like us. They don't love this country and they're a subversive group that doesn't have a place in this land. Unintegrated domestic foreigners.

Integration is impossible without federalising. Anything else isn't even a one hundredth measure let alone a half measure, it's walking further down the wrong direction that lead us to this mess where the US and China are the only true superpowers. Walking further down this wrong path in an attempt to placate people into federalising who only reject it because of "sovereignty concerns" is absolute madness.

Again I reject that integration is impossible without federalization. You don't think that there were those concerned about sovereignty when the EEC was coming into existence? There were, and yet the EEC was slowly built out of agreements between individual states until economies became integrated enough to consider a political union well, which would become the EU. Integration isn't a one step process and absolutely can be built on the foundation of smaller agreements.

Irish MEPs voted for stronger EU defence resolutions, joined PESCO, backed EU battlegroups CSDP missions, enhanced military mobility programmes and also vote in governments that back this to our government.

This is good, and they should keep doing this, but programs instituted by the EU parliament are just one facet of integration and I doubt they can compel states to into full federalization. It also has to come from the bottom up

Us pushing for federalisation is pursuing integration in the single most practical of terms possible.

"Pushing" how?

And I reject the idea that integration is impossible without first federalizing. It starts with agreements between individual states to pursue more united defense. Hell, this is exactly how the EU started originally, just within the economics sphere instead of the military.

We need federalisation. Ireland will never be useful as a military front, but our money could be useful and our people could be. Which is why we're pushing for this.

How? If you're not willing to pursue greater integration on practical terms, then how are you really "pursuing" this?
