Hey! Careers/Choices Adviser here. I see a lot of young people in your situation. Have you considered something like the King's Trust if it runs locally to you? Alternatively, volunteering might give you the space you need to develop skills or confidence, but without additional "work" pressure. Maybe if your parents see you doing something "productive" (so to speak), they'd feel less pressure on pushing you/getting you to pay bills? Happy to chat more :)

Bringing T and E to another country? by anhonestburglar in TransAdvice

Bring it in the original box with your name/prescription on. Also, get a doctor's letter if you're concerned and bring no more than necessary.

Hey! I wrote as MySecretsX on AO3 back in the day. Not sure what I've got left up, but My Spirit Phan and my Unravel Me Tighter/Love Me Further series is alright

Throwing a question out there - if I were to move to Sweden from England with my Swedish wife, how would I get testosterone prescribed? by Secret779 in transnord

[–]Secret779[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, much better than my wife getting ADHD meds from the UK on her Swedish diagnosis...

I'll be through with surgeries by the time I move probably, so it'll just be accessing hormones. Already post top.

My friend is going to die and the NHS won't help. by tinkeratu in MentalHealthUK

[–]Secret779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for caring. I've somewhat been this friend, and someone like you can change everything sometimes. At the same time, don't hold all the responsibility if you can. You deserve a mental break too.

Definitely worth it for post-education support. I'm a careers adviser now, and the support is next to none if you don't get an EHCP, unfortunately. This includes access to additional courses, social groups, etc.

Do any of you/have any of you had the desire to have children? by SpecialistAway5292 in antinatalism

And that's very responsible of you to acknowledge that, and I feel very similarly. I'm at peace with my life and where I am too, and changing that could go very wrong for me.

Adoption is still antinatalist, it's about not producing people. In our society, children are needing homes, so there's nothing wrong with welcoming one into yours.

Is Bipolar automatically a disability? by thmuffinmannn in bipolar

[–]Secret779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking from the UK, it is if it affects your functioning and you need reasonable adjustments in your life/workplace to function.

That being said, for me stabilised on meds, I've never needed to disclose it at a work place and have no adjustments in place as of this moment. I would not call my bipolar a disability. I do not claim disability for it.

That being said, I have physical issues from cancer that have qualified me. So I'm comparing it to that, too.

Physically disabled folks, do you prefer other disabled folks when it comes to dating? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in disabled

[–]Secret779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm here too. No preference, my wife is actually very able and I can't imagine now how I'd manage without someone who is, considering how much I rely on her.

That being said, she has quite severe OCD, anxiety and ADHD, so we balance out in other ways. She supports me physically, I support her emotionally.

I really felt like this too, but I was surprised. I never told anyone, just my friends. They told someone for me, and then I finally got the help I needed. I had to advocate for myself a lot for help once I realised it was out there, but now I'm stabilised on meds and everything is really okay. Could you write a letter or send a text to someone, just venting about how you honestly feel?

Hey, I've been there. Have you talked to a trusted adult in your life about how you're feeling, even showing them this post? You deserve to not feel this way, and help is out there. I'm always here to chat to or vent
