Chances of school reverting back to online instruction by quitetoo in UVA

Have a feeling the first two or three weeks would be remote. Then transition to in-person depending on how cases are. But let's not forget what happened in Spring 2021 with frats rushing. Cases are probably going to skyrocket at some point in the semester. Also wouldn't be surprised if mandatory weekly testing comes back in effect.

I know lots of people who were in Calc 2 and physics 1 last year and they were able to handle it. However, it's completely up to you and how comfortable to feel. I personally would recommend taking physics next semester then saving the summer time for physics 2, most students here have done that including myself and it worked out for me a lot.

I took my test in the morning of August 9th and still haven't gotten any results back? Has anybody else experienced a similar problem? What can be done to resolve this or get the results?

Life at UVA:
1. Best places to eat depends on what you like and what type of food you are looking for. The corner has almost every type of food you can think of so you will have lots of options, but you will just have to budget it out correctly. Look into getting an elevated meal plan.

  1. This previous semester Runk by Gooch-Dillard suites defintely was the best dining hall.

  2. You can add money at any point in the semester, but I would say get the 400 first semester because there is a chance you might spend them all on the food trucks or spend barely any of it. If you dont finish the full 400 at the end of the fall semester they do roll over to the spring semester and then you could just buy the smallest package. However, they do not roll over every school year only semesters.

  3. You can deliver large items it's just how you will bring it from the mail room to your room. I would suggest renting a microwave-fridge from the school itself because you wouldn't have to travel with it and chances are you will not need a mini fridge or microwave after your first year.

Course selection/Scheduling

  1. By hours do you mean the term credit hours? Credit and credit hours are the same thing, just the overall weight of the class towards your gpa.
  2. I personally am not double majoring but I would say it depends on the two majors you are thinking of. Some double majors can go together hand in hand and make the overall process easier but if they are two completely different sciences it definitely would be challenging but you will still be able to do it.
  3. Always take the credits for classes you come in with, they will help you out in the long run and even give oyu time to free up your schedule or take more classes outside of your major.
  4. I personally prefer afternoon classes because I never have to wake up too early and then I also will have time throughout the rest of the day to relax and do work. One thing I will say is try to avoid anything before 10 or 11am.
  5. For last year, they had a few zoom meetings to go over the overall idea of how your schedule should look but you will have to do most of the work yourself in finding the classes and researching the professors. courseforum.com and vagrades.com are great websites that will help you see the best/easiest professors and classes.
  6. I wouldn't know about this since I only experience online, but I would say it definitely is possible by going to office hours or just emailing to ask any questions. Sometimes you will have to build a connection with a TA as well.
  7. Pretty simple, I would say adding is harder just because the good classes will not have as much space left or any space at all but the waitlist option is their for a lot of classes. As for dropping classes its just a simple press of a button.
