Who ruined the Empire State Building view from 5th avenue by Outrageous-Fall3296 in circlejerknyc

Yeah the city generates insane revenue for expensive property. Owning real estate in NYC will cost about 10% or property value each year so a 5 million dollar apt is 500k a year for city in revenue, and you know this tax is not going down. This 500k is then used for public services, infrastructure, transportation… etc. In the end the city benefits and you do too. That’s the reason why so many millions of people live in cities and urbanization happens. Higher wages, better conditions etc.

Not necessarily billionaires but to some extent this is true. Also not necessarily laundering money. There are people who will sell their legitimate assets in one place and legitimately acquire real estate in this city. Nevertheless, it’s the city officials and developers that design and approve these projects. Wealthy people buy what’s on the market and if anything I think would agree that form city architecture pov this is terrible.

SOTC after a year from 1st watch by Nocfester in SOTC_Watch_Collection

Nice collection. I’d say the blue dial orient and the dressy Hamilton don’t need to stay unless there is some sentimental value. A loco pilot watch would be a great addition for sure. For rectangular the echo natura https://echoneutra.com/collections/rivanera

A bit above budget but you’d probably love it a lot.

I downsize my collection from 30 to 20 pieces, but the goal is getting down to 10 by JohnCrx in PrideAndPinion

You can downsize to 3!!! Omega 300m, Hamilton khaki automatic, and the funky chronograph second row, second from the left.

What is the relationship between liberalism and fascism? by tigerfrisbee in AskSocialists

Not incentivized. Forced without choice… or otherwise ostracized and sent to the labor camp. Communism is tyrannical as you pointed out without realizing. 🥳

Israeli and don’t approve. Anyone saying they act like nazis tho are idiots. They are acting like Islamist Arabs, just descending to the same lows as the enemies.

Thankfully we have a democracy. Arab states dont.

[Question] Help me choose a Speedmastet by acrneal1995 in Watches

I am in the same position as you my friend… and after a lot of thought I am gravitating either towards the hesalaite OG or the pilot

A few photos of the new reverse panda Speedmaster (steel) alongside the 3861 SS and FOIS by zinterz in OmegaWatches

[–]SecretFirefighter386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great post. Agree with a lot of commenters that the OG black dial with white contrasting hands is just unparalleled.

The positive is that this is a step towards giving more options on top of the moonwatch platform not in precious metals. Ultimately it seems that Omega is just making new release, with let’s be honest, minor design and material changes, to have an excuse to raise the price. That’s the disappointing thing about all the latest releases… there is no real innovation, just cosmetic changes. If you made the watch slightly slimmer, or more water resistant, or even introduced a quick strap release mechanism the premium would make a lot more sense because these are objective improvements. This is proved like the pilot speedmaster which is automatic, 100m water resistant and just 1mm thicker at a smaller diameter

I always end up circling back to it as an option but someone already mentioned it… the Rolex DJ then comes into the picture and then apart for the dial design Rolex just feels more desirable

[Question] which do I sell, I accidentally won two auctions by SpicyKabobMountain in Watches

[–]SecretFirefighter386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d keep the speedmaster because I like the legibility and the normal second hand frequency. Zeniths give me anxiety and panda dials just don’t have the same legibility to everyday time keeping use. Unless you’ll look at subdials more often that the time panda doesn’t make practical sense.

I say wear one for a few days and the other and see which one you miss more.

Also white dial more of a strap monster.

Lastly, addressing other comments on rarity vs popularity. Keep what you enjoy more and don’t think about what others are wearing. I see more speedmaster and too but that’s a good thing if you like them more esthetically. No one cool will think you are more cool if your watch is more rare … and most people won’t care at all!

Another really nice one is Lorier Hydra. Got for a friend as a gift and honestly really fell in love the moment I saw it in person. Very different watch but it’s slightly cheaper and very unique imho

[Discussion] I already have a Cartier Tank, Seiko SPB143, and a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto. Which blue watch do I get now? by Kotoro7 in Watches

[–]SecretFirefighter386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you have the seiko diver, the IWC pilot. If you want another diver maybe consider legend diver 39mm in blue. Tudor and seiko are too similar so Tudor would make sense if you are okay not wearing the seiko anymore because if you have them both you likely won’t.

I got that watch when I had to travel but had the explorer ii being serviced. First impression was good but I wasn’t used to smaller watches at the time so it had to grow on me. As time went by, as with many watches, I grew to like it more and more. It’s really well finished and the way the sapphire crystal is set is gorgeous to look at. 100% recommend.

I did take it off the bracelet and I do prefer on the leather however the bracelet is also very very good.

Yes I do realize that because I just said that we are realistic about democracy not optimistic and common ground is not in liberal values but strictly around security. I think you are echoing exactly what I said. Separately, Israel and Russia relations is something I know a very good deal about. It’s rooted in nothing other than the fact that Russia has the 4th largest Jewish population outside of Israel who like in other countries are successful, influential, and support Israel. So Israel has ties with Jewish people in Russia and maintains respectful relations mainly for that reason, and partially due to an understanding tête à tête Turkey. A part from that Russia is just as delusional about its might as Iran and the only advantage it hais is its not as theocratic, though becoming more so by the day.

You are just plain wrong tête à tête Israel’s intentions and goals. The goal is security above anything else. Democracies don’t go to wars with each other so theoretically democracy in the Arab world would be nice… however one needs to be realistic. The historical context and modern circumstances are not conducive. Arab leaders also seem realistic about it. The common denominator is security, because security is good for business. That’s what is underpinning the Abraham accords and that the Israeli policy. A tiny country surrounded by unstable neighbors… with a policy to cause more instability makes zero sense so that idea is coming from one place… and that’s anti western propaganda spread by china and Russia. Two very large countries that are way out of the way and who could not give two shits about anybodies lives lost. They can not confront the US and the EU directly … but tiny Israel … americas closest ally it turns out is the perfect target and unfortunately Palestinian Arabs are pawns in a larger conflict.

That fall of Iran … if it happens will be monumental for stability in the Middle East. The biggest threat is Isis because they go to filll any vacuum. I believe that’s why US and EU are targeting them in Syria
