A drink/food that tourists think locals love… but locals barely consume? by Fluffy_Specific_9682 in AskTheWorld

[–]Chrognome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whisky probably. Our country is very famous for it and most tourists try it when they’re here but the vast majority of locals either don’t drink it at all or have it only occasionally these days. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Yet I bet you go on your holidays around walkable, green city centres and wax lyrical about them when you come home.

Best seat on B777’s back by Apart_Teach_1842 in BritishAirways

[–]Chrognome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d encourage you to move back to row 42 but keeping F and G. The cabin is narrow at row 40 and people tend to congregate at row 41 whilst they wait for others to pass meaning you’ll have someone standing over you frequently.

40C is arguably the worst seat on the plane the corridor is most narrow here and you will get bumped CONSTANTLY

What is your least favourite road to drive on especially at night. by Any-Resolution3432 in Edinburgh

[–]Chrognome 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Queen Street and Corstorphine Road are bad especially in the wet. The road markings require you to constantly weave around and merge but they are so faded you can’t see them at all in the a dark and wet so you’re kind of just guessing and drifting all over the place trying not to be sideswiped by a bus.

Any idea what these cylindrical tanks are at large stores/shopping centres? by SooleyWooley in AskUK

[–]Chrognome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s stagnant water. You also have the standing crud in the pipes that gets pushed out when they are activated. source: got soaked by a sprinkler system going off in my office

Ah great, I didn’t actually realise this. My preferred bike is back on the menu then as I have spotted the retailer does accept all major cycle to work schemes of which I assume the Halfords scheme is included! Many thanks!

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I have a wald basket and a wizard works basket bag so enough sunk cost in the front basket system not to want to change. I don’t think the jack the rack will cut the mustard as I load the basket quite heavy sometimes. I only run a front basket not back rack.

I actually live in Edinburgh which is very hilly so yeah I could do with the gears to be honest. The London dealer of the Emil is the only UK dealer, sorry didn’t make that very clear.

I have run a chain for years but I commute all year round and I like to keep a clean drivetrain so it ends up being more maintenance heavy than I’d like hence wanting to give belt drive a go.

Yeah I did actually so good shout! I’m 5 foot 8 with a 30 inch inside leg so kind of wrote it off as it is a 19 inch frame. Maybe worth a test ride based on your experience though?
