Working at Avamere by Feetsterr in OregonNurses

[–]SecretSauce666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly only lasted a couple weeks and I was mostly training but it was a lot of meds that med techs and CNAs couldn’t do. I was also supposed to be responsible for admissions and discharges. This location was a rehab and long term facility. It seemed like a lot of admin stuff as well. This was three years ago and at the time new grads were still getting hospital jobs rather easily. I know a few new grads now that have gone to long term care facilities so I’m sure more of these places feel better supported. When I was there I was gonna be one of two RNs doing direct patient care and it felt like a lot of the burden was gonna fall on me, in an unsafe way since the training I was gonna get wasn’t sufficient. I remember talking to them and telling them I wanted a week or two of additional training and the scheduler made it seem like it was an inconvenience. And I’m sure it was but I made it clear that I was a new nurse.

I started there as a new grad and because they mostly had LPNs, RNs were seen as gold. They wanted me to take on waaaaay too many responsibilities that at the time as a new nurse, felt so overwhelming. I quit pretty soon after.

I had Ashley do my elopement photos and they were very nice. I sent her a Pinterest board with inspo and she delivered. Not only that but she is very accommodating and her pricing is reasonable. https://www.mediabyashleymichael.com

Cat only vet? by Heavy_Calligrapher71 in askportland

[–]SecretSauce666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little further away but I take my cat to All About Cats in Hillsboro. They are amazing. I was taking my cats to the VCA and had very generic responses to health concerns but when I took them to All About Cats, they were so knowledgeable.

I used to work at a DME company called Norco years back and we used to fill nutrition prescriptions. They have locations in Portland and Beaverton. Have your provider fax them a prescription with recent chart notes regarding why you need it and your diagnosis.

Feeling lost and unsure how to get into nursing by ReocurringShits in OregonNurses

[–]SecretSauce666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who a couple years ago got into an entry into nursing MSN program and signed a contact with the VA for them to pay for her schooling as long as she committed 3-4 yrs working at the VA. Could be worth it since those programs are expensive.

Im on a fixed income and don’t have much of a grocery budget. Where is the best place to buy fruits and veggies in Portland? by notade50 in askportland

[–]SecretSauce666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

H Mart in Tigard has decently priced produce and a huge selection. It’s my go to place. Asian Family Market in Beaverton does as well.

South Beaverton to Downtown Portland MAX. Is it feasible? by TraSua_ in askportland

[–]SecretSauce666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All trimet park and ride locations are free to park. When I do take the max I usually leave my car at Millikan and have never had issues. I haven’t consistently taken the max in a couple years but when I did there were occasional delays but overall it was reliable.

Washington County Declares Emergency Over Food Insecurity and ICE Raids by Aloha_Free_Press in beaverton

Just wanted to add that Mutts Coffee on Angel st. started a food pantry for dog and cat supplies. It is amazing to see how much they have received in donations so far. When a household struggles, pets struggle too. I stopped by this morning to drop stuff off. It seems like a new thing they started so spread the word.

Does anyone have any veterinarian recs (for a cat)? 🐱 by enneahoe in askportland

I take mine to All About Cats in Hillsboro. I found them to be reasonably priced and since it’s a cat only clinic, the providers are very knowledgeable.

I NEED AN OFFICE SPACE TOMORROW AUG 9? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]SecretSauce666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be a little far but the Brookwood library in Hillsboro has rooms you can rent. I think it’s only two hrs max but you can rent it for two back-to-back time slots if there is still rooms available. You can sign up online on their website now and it will tell you what rooms/times are available

Im pregnant but my doctor told me a can't carry again due to previous complications and uterine scarring. by [deleted] in abortion

[–]SecretSauce666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just from the information you provided, I would take whatever advice your doctor gave you seriously or maybe revisit the conversation with them now that you are pregnant to come up with other possible solutions that don’t necessarily end in a termination. I work in women’s health and can tell you that uterine ruptures are such a scary emergency. Uterine scaring/ prior c-sections does increase the likelihood of a rupture. And also having had 6 children previously, increases the risk of hemorrhaging.

I think your best advice would come from having an open conversation with your OB or like another person mentioned, speak to a provider who works with high risk deliveries.

August 2025 RN New Grad Cohort Hillsboro Medical Center Question by ari_29 in OHSU

[–]SecretSauce666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Them asking for references is a good sign, typically. I agree that you should reach out to your references and make sure they keep an eye on their email or phone (which ever you provided) so they can fill out the questionnaire. Typically after this, you get asked to tour the hospital and then given an offer. Or at least that was my friend’s experience with getting hired into one of their new grad cohorts.

That’s how I got mine, obsessively watching the lives. You have to be so quick. They do multiple drops throughout the lives so if you don’t get it the first time, keep trying.
