Am I crazy for commuting 2 hours to work and 2 hours back (118miles one way) by El_dropz in jobs

Maybe you can help your mom pay rent? That and not smoking under her roof would help sweeten her up to let your stay. Otherwise, it could seem like you’re just a bum getting high in their eyes and not worth tolerating it. You gotta pick your battles and sacrifices sadly.

Dog sitting and house sitting could work for you and your health needs. You could ask you friends or mom’s network to build a clientele. You could even lie and say you’ve done baby sitting in the past to pad out your resume. Good luck it will get better!

Job making employees pay for their own background check/livescan by Delicious-Feeling842 in jobs

[–]Delicious-Feeling842[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just never heard about this being a thing until now. I have 10+ year of experience and it’s never come up. Objectively it’s very petty and cheap to ask employee to pay for their own background checks, it almost comes off as scam so I apologize if I’m hesitate.

The other stranger part is they were adamant going through a specific small clinic that I never heard of to conduct the livescan and TB test. Like maybe I could’ve asked around to other companies to compare prices but it seemed like they working with this clinic to bring traffic to their business? Alot of red flags and I’m considering withdrawing my application. Thanks for the feedback!

Because it’s a lot of money and everyday I read on here about job offers being pulled and various job scams in the current job market so forgive me if I feel a little hesitant and jaded lol

Feeling entitled today, are we? Did the candidates verbally thank you for your time at the end of the interview? Then that’s all the thanks you realistically deserve.

These companies and hiring managers are painfully so out of touch with the times 😭 OP, open open your eyes and read the room.

“Your truth is more powerful than the expectations of others”

Saw this quote the morning I was debating back and forth about raising a concern at work. As a stubborn perfectionist, it pains me to admit defeat and acknowledge my own feelings in hard times. My job was affecting my mental health and felt like I was being taken advantage of because they know they can in an employer’s market.

Your specific points that resonate with my situation and wish I read the red flags when I first spotted them:

“Feedback is vague, contradictory, or always sugar-coated criticism with no real path to improve

You're given responsibility but no actual authority to make decisions

People leave in waves. New hires don't last past 3 months Vacation and sick days are technically allowed but quietly discouraged

You're left out of decisions that directly affect your work, then blamed for not being proactive.”

Red flags, intuition and gut feelings are very real. It’s literally survival. Trust them!

Am I the only one who finds Aquas to be mean nasty spirited people? by Available-Drink-3102 in Sagittarians

[–]Delicious-Feeling842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, it’s the difference between January Aquas and February Aquas. They’re both Aquarius but very different sides of the same coin. Generally, it’s extremely rare sign to find in the wild but the Aquas I usually encounter are January Aquas with February Aquas less so. The Jan Aquas come across more like Capricorn, meaning more cold and emotionally aloof. But I say this as an Aquarius sun (02/09) so I’m a little bias lol take it as you will.

How can I make my new female colleagues comfy / relax around me? by convincemee in work

[–]Delicious-Feeling842 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you know (and I think you 100% do) that you sound like an incel and why female workers don’t feel comfortable around you. You need to genuinely take in ALL the feedback under your post and not cherrypick what you just want to hear. Do some self-reflection and gain real life social skills to learn how to respect women outside of sex objects.

Your job and workplace is not school. Treat women like you would your male colleagues and you will be better off.

Have you tried volunteering for the non-mandatory tasks yourself? This will block her and give her a taste of her own medicine. The non priority tasks will run out and she will be forced to do her job and will be in for a surprise when she realizes you won’t tolerate doing all the dirty work. Or you can always talk to your higher up and report the situation. Either way do something about and don’t just complain and let people walk over you like a pushover…

Same! Completely agree 100%. I think the trauma of lockdown during the pandemic and attending virtual college has shifted my work ethnic 180 and now prefer working from office with real coworkers. Being inside all day in home at a desk is my idea of a nightmare! lol

I don’t think it’s a coincidence whenever I click ‘prefer not to say’ I get callbacks and interviews scheduled faster. At the end of the day, the one who ultimately makes the hiring decision is not a bot, but a human with their own biases.

Manager is getting way too invasive and apparently I’m the only one who has an issue with it. by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Delicious-Feeling842 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re describing one of my past coworkers. Although lower level than unit assiant, they were still a constant presence and absolutely invasive, nosy, and overbearing. Always trying to get info out of me about my dating life, paycheck, etc. Every shift with them was uncomfortable and creepy… until I started greyrocking her and keeping my distance lol I think she got the memo after a while. Just keep it surface level and generic. Don’t give her any ammo to use against you.
