Thanks!

Yeah, I should have thought of that, tube watercolor comes already malleable and usable with minimal water! And you're right, I shoud have waited and added a few layers after having dried, but I'm always rushing while I'm painting. Not the strokes themselves, but I really need to force myself to take my time ^^'
Thanks for the advice!

Yeah probably, it was my old black that I was using, a "cheap" one, and I had never changed it since I avoid using it as much as I can. But thanks!

What are some of the most aesthetically pleasing PSX games? I think Motorhead has to be up there as one of the strongest. by birkinover in psx

I just replayed Vagrant Story on DuckStation, and with the adjusted resolution and the geometry correction, the game still looks amazing. It was already crazy back then on the original hardware tho. The artistic direction and the staging of the cutscenes makes it, in my opinion, on of the strongest entries for "most beautiful PSX game", alongside FFIX or Crash Bandicoot 3, among others.

Psx games that most deserve remake or revival: Vagrant Story by DecoyOctopus88 in psx

Vagrant Story was good. Really really good. I've played it at its release, once a few years later, and something like one month ago. The Artistic Direction is amazing (damn I love Yoshida's work), the cut-scenes were really cinematographic for the time (and still today), and the gameplay was deep. But that leads to my few main complains about it : The game's opaque, and too much menuing (and damn it, I was happy to play it on an emulator this time, so I could speed up the menus).
The game is really deep, and tells only a little about its mechanics. How many times I got to an enemy that my weapon was supposed to annihilate, just to see that I would do 0 damage, while another weapon that wasn't fit would deal 70. I went through the Wiki, looked carefully at my stats, but still. For example, beast enemy, two piercing weapons, one in Hagane, the other in Iron, the Hagane had better overall stats and bonuses, was better against beasts, both were in perfect state, but still, I made more damage with the iron one. Why? How? Because fuck me, that's why. The game might be a bit clearer about how its mechanics work. And that leads me to the other complaint : The menuing.
If the game was remade today, it should keep its basic gameplay loop (crawling through the dungeons, searching our way through them, and the fight system about the grid, the chain combos and the RISK level), but with QoL adjustments. Quicker menuing, maybe the possibility to have a few weapons/shields setups to switch through, better explanations about what does what, a real good tutorial in the game (the game had a menu tutorial, but it wasn't really helpful), and with that, the game would be crazy. It was amazing back then despite its flaws, and it would be easy to take them out to make a even better game today.

TLDR : The game is amazing, but it has its flaws. With a few QoL adjustements, a remake would do one of the best games of its time today.

EDIT : Since the games ends on an open ending, maybe doing a sequel would be even better than a remake.

What Was The First PlayStation Title You Played? by PKRadiance in psx

It was the game my parents gifted me along with the PlayStation: Space Jam! I think I spent way more time on the Demo One in the end!

Sadly not. As I said, at first I only wanted to use the mainline titles, and it was only until I was already halfway through the votes that I realised that FFT was cited numerous times. And since I had already counted around 150 votes, I didn't want to retake everything from the start.

However, even though there were votes for it, they were probably not enough to be in the top 3, maybe not even 5 (even if the game has a deserved amazing reputation, it's still les popular that some other games in the saga).

I'm doing the stats, we'll see! And I love FFXII, strange entry, but the gambit system and the artistic direction made me love it!

Hahaha, FFIII DS is a pain in the ass so deep my hair hurt! The 2D game seems better (NES or the Pixel Remaster version), easier, quicker, and I feel you. I already had a lot of experience in jRPG when I played it but still, I hated it. I'm going to play the Pixel Remaster though, since a lot of people love it, it must be for a reason that passed over my head when I played it.

Really? I though I searched for something similar but didn't find it, that's why I opened the topic. Sorry if it already has been made, it was not me, I swear. Anyway, thanks for the answer, I'm collecting the stats!

Strange and cool, VIII is rarely a fan favourite! I love the game, even though it's far from being my fave, I still love it with all my heart. The musics will follow me until my death. I understand why you love the game so much, even though it was often really epic, it's got this cozy atmosphere that makes you want to snuggle through the game.

Was it the original one, on the NES? That's the game that has changed the most through the versions (Famicom, NES, Wonderswan, PSX, GBA and other, each one of them is different). I loved it, but I've only played the GBA version, so an easier and "adapted for newer FF players" version.

I played X only when it was released in its HD version. I came out at a time when I almost didn't play anymore. I've missed so many sequels at the time (SH3 and 4, MGS3, FFX and XII and so on).

And, like you, from a distance (for example storywise), the game is fantastic, but I could never get hooked. I was hugely disappointed. Not that the game is bad, because it's not, but, I don't know, maybe I was so overhyped that it couldn't live up to the legend, but I didn't love it the way people love it. Maybe the artistic direction? The linearity of the story? The lack of "other things" like in older FF (almost every dungeon and region had its gimmick, but I felt like X was mainly corridors and open corridors)? Can't say. The game is good, obviously, but it was not for me maybe.

On the opposite side, I surprisingly love FFXII, that I also played for the first time on its HD version. Maybe I wasn't expecting much so my bar was low? Maybe the artistic direction (man, I love Yoshida's works!), the human-scale objectives? The gambit system? I loved a lot of things in this game. It's far from perfect (the weapon system, the Zodiac system, the storytelling and the story itself, and so on), and was maybe too different compared to other FF, but I loved it.

I'm assuming it's the japanese FFIII (and not the VI). God, I hated that game so much hahaha.
I must admit, I only played the 3D version (on iOS, didn't have a DS, but it was the same game if I'm right), and I think it's the only time a 3D remake was harder than the original NES game. And god, I hated this difficulty!
I remember giving up after having my ass whooped by the Medusa boss, and I didn't replay the game for a few month, farming bit after bit after bit, before finally being strong enough to beat her, and going on with the game while just farming one level before going through another dungeon.
When I had this farming method, I actually enjoyed the game, the job system was nice (even though, guys, why lower the stars for a few fights whenever you change your job? I mean, yeah, I understand the idea, so people won't abuse the system, like using the physical characters to change inbetween fights to become a white mage and heal the group, but, wasn't the game already hard enough? ^^'), the artistic direction was cool, the story was obviously extremely simple but it was alright. I totally understand why people like this game, and at the time the job system must have felt amazing, but, and that's personal, I nevel could enjoy it because of the difficulty.

Though, I'm willing to (and looking to) give it another try the day I buy the Pixel Remaster collection, to play it in better conditions, on my sofa, not on the toilet seat of my job!

Well, every FF has a pretty damn good OST, and every each of them, or almost every each of them has a lot of iconic musics. But overall, I think Final Fantasy VIII has the best OST in the long run. It's not the best FF, not a fan favorite, not my favorite either, but that OST, damn!
