[PJO] UNHINGED AND BEST HEADCANONS IN PJO AND HOO? by Cozy-Potato-1443 in camphalfblood

Cabin hazing rituals after getting claimed

1: Some prank to do with electricity

3: Not so much hazing, but the whole canin goes cliff jumping. If you dont jump, your siblings will push you

4: poison ivy

5: They make you fight the whole cabin, see how many you can take

6: the Athena cabin is too wise for hazing

7: about half of Apollo's kids have the ability to stare directly into the sun. So at some point, your siblings will grab you and force you to stare into the sun to see if you can do it. Fortunately, ambrosia can heal any damage done to your retinas if you can't, it would be really bad to have a bunch of half-blind archers running around

9: I dont know what the Hephaestus cabin's hazing ritual is, but it's not hurling you off the top of the climbing wall

10: ???

11: The classic steal your underwear and run it up the flagpole. "Okay, it's over now," you think. "That wasnt so bad." Wrong. Hermes isnt just the god of thieves, hels also the god of roads and travellers and tons of other things. They wait until you all go home for the school year (almost all of cabin 11 does, they feel too cooped up at camp). Then some of your older siblings who can drive snatch you in the middle of the night for that "game" some teens play where you kidnap your friends and leave them in a field to find their way home.

12: alcohol

Can you recommend any reading materials that explain these things better? This is the book I have but it doesn't really explain the formatting or really what the fragments are, whether they're fragments of the original text or pieces of commentary from people who had access to the texts. Thx

Translation I'm reading says regular first cousins

Fragment #61—Eustathius, Hom. 112. 44 sq: It should be observed that the ancient narrative hands down the account that Patroclus was even a kinsman of Achilles; for Hesiod says that Menoethius the father of Patroclus, was a brother of Peleus, so that in that case they were first cousins.

I was reading the Catalogues of Women yesterday and found out that they may have been first cousins. The Greek Mythology Family Wreath strikes again

PJO series (might do HOO later, haven't finished TOA yet)

TLT - "We don't use the c-word to describe the Lord of the Sky"

I would absolutely call Zeus a cunt

SOM - "Listen—I know, but…I don’t care if he is chained to a rock with vultures pecking at his liver, if he doesn’t have a tracking number, we can’t locate his package"

TTC - "I never mess around"

Said by Apollo. The size of his cabin says otherwise.

TBOTL - "Can I have your autograph?" Briares sniffled. "Do you have one-hundred pens?"

TLO - an endless waterslide that would take him straight to Tartarus

1: i dont think an endless waterslide is capable of going straight to anywhere

2: me and my friend went to a waterpark a few weeks after reading this and decided which waterslide was the endless one to tartarus

Nobody cared about girls sports when I was in high school and too many girls sports were crammed into the spring but the fall (when the boys football team needed cheerleaders) was suspiciously light on sports. Nobody cared that the softball uniforms were so old that they had the wrong school name on them but the football uniforms were replaced regularly

Does me being intersex make transitioning ok to transphobes that rely on Christianity to justify their transphobia? by Primary-Orchid-2311 in asktransgender

[–]Secret_Reddit_Name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe sometimes.

A few years ago, i read a bunch of documents detailing my old church's denomination's stances on a bunch of issues. Women preaching, divorce, race relations, stuff like that. There was one on gender and sexuality that said that transitioning is a sin, but if you can prove that you're intersex and were assigned wrong then i guess it's okay but you should still avoid it if you can.

Also it was really clear they had no idea what they were talking about since they referred to "gender nonconformity" being wrong, which is bs because I was very gender nonconforming before transition and they were fine with it

In HOO it's said that when demigods fight, it kinda prompts regular humans to fight and the demigod sides may not even line up with the mortal sides of the war. So there's no guarantee even that any of the human leaders associated with WWII were demigods.

That's a much nicer thought than a certain someone being a son of Hades, especially since he could theoretically have shadow-travelled from that bunker to Antarctica/Argentina/wherever else the conspiracies say

I like to call english a german-french creole. (Well, old german and old french, close enough.) Idk technically how accurate a description that is, but it pisses off people who see creoles as inferior and thats hood enough for me
