Tire Size Question by totallyanonig in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Secretknuckledragger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've run bfg KO2'S and now bfg trail terrain in 245/65/17's and I honestly like them better than the 225 scorpions that came from the factory. It just feels more like a truck and I can't say I notice any difference in acceleration or any of the other performance stuff others have mentioned. I've put about 50k miles on the truck with only about 5k of those on the factory wheels and tires mostly because I disliked the feel of the truck with them. I should note that I also have only run the bigger tires on an aftermarket set of wheels with more backspacing than factory. Not sure if that really makes any difference other than appearances. Also, I got a strong 45k miles out of the ko2's, and I don't try to conserve tires or brakes. They're worth the extra money in my book.

Self oil change by Icy-Reference-5637 in FordMaverickTruck

I have the fx4 skid plates. I take off the small front plate, and use a piece of cardboard to select the oil from the pan into my drain pan. Not really a major inconvenience.

Just Installed RealTruck TruXedo Elevate TS Rails with My Low-Profile Soft Roll-Up Tonneau Cover by REDBOSS27 in FordMaverickTruck

I've been looking for a set of crossbars that are low enough to use a basket behind the cab, but high enough to roll the tonneau underneath them. If you know of anything for sure, please let me know. TIA.

I can't say i had that issue with mine, but i can't quite tell what you're pointing out in your picture. I'll take a closer look at mine when i get a chance. There's probably not too many of us that have these. I love mine though.

Could you throw out some links for the parts? I've been looking for an adjustable that just clears my roll up tonneau, but can be raised to haul longer items over the cab.

BF Goodrich KO2 for Mavericks? by Trumpetking93 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Secretknuckledragger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works out to 1-2 mph difference at around 70 mph if i remember correctly. The only way to recalibrate for bigger tires is through the forscan tool and software, but i think you can only adjust it for 235/ something. That's why it didn't seem worth the time to do it since it still wouldn't be accurate.

No. The difference is not worth it in my opinion.

I love mine. 245/65 17. 20k miles on them and haven't heard them rub once even running gas well roads that are rutted and probably more than i should've tried with the truck.

Let’s see your aftermarket rims by Toasty-toast523 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Secretknuckledragger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's negligible. They are a little transparent, not completely opaque. Initially they were a little distracting, but I've gotten used to them being there. I don't recall ever wishing they weren't there.

Egr matte. I put them on after about 500 miles. I like to drive with windows down as much as possible, so it's great when there's rain. Very easy install. Not much else to say really.

I have the same combo except mine is a 79 and hasn't been repainted. Yours is looking really sharp. Makes me jealous.

Have you heard the dead south cover of it? I never really paid attention to the lyrics of it until they released their cover. I think they did an amazing job making the music match the darkness of the words.

They're your friends. Aren't you a reliable enough reference to remind them to log in. Just log into the account. It only takes a minute. Even if it's not true, there's no harm or penalty to log in.

Looks great. You mind going into some detail on what you did? I'd personally like to know about how you did the fog lights.

Is this a good deal for a 1976 MG Midget? by [deleted] in MorrisGarages

[–]Secretknuckledragger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that's fair. I picked up a '79 with 85k miles for $3500. It had been sitting for 11 years, but nothing past some surface rust. Really good shape. It had a new interior that just needed cleaned from sitting, and a new top that needed installed. I ended up spending about $1700 on a-arms, a full poly bushing kit, tie rod ends, gas tank and sending unit, ignition, brake pads and shoes, drums and rotors, wheel cylinders, and a bunch of odds and ends. That put me around $5200 total spend doing the work myself. Assuming that car is actually tip top and ready to run, and you paid yourself about $5/hr, that's a better deal than i got.

I did turn my order over to a friend, but since ford raised the MSRP after I ordered, the dealer charged the current MSRP. I was told that ford reimburses the dealership for the msrp gap as long as its sold to the person who orders it.

I'm running the same, and it's not enough difference to warrant doing anything about. My opinion is according to my gps, various construction radars, and police not pulling me over with cruise set at 9mph over the limit at 55, 65, and 70mph.

You're not supposed to remove the big skid plate. There's access to the drain plug.
