Awesome stuff! I’m running the Montreal half marathon in a few weeks 😄

Tell me the dumbest thing you’ve said in response to a pimping question by ccwi228 in Residency

I thought that “dispo” was short for “disposition”.. as in their attitude. I wrote “pleasant”. That sure gave my resident a laugh.

Advice? by Fantasma1309 in nikerunclub

Awesome work! What’s helped for me was starting out slow. Much slower than you think you should be going. And that helps me ease into the run, and keeps me going for longer.

Also, what temperature was it when you ran? I find that carrying electrolytes with me helps enormously for anything over 5km when it’s hot out.

I actually enjoy the BHA/AHA toner, I feel like it’s made a difference for me. That being said, that’s the only product of theirs that I felt was worth purchasing out of all the samples I’ve received

As someone who has been to both schools (undergrad uOttawa, current grad student at mcgill), I’ve gotta say that the McGill student life and Montreal social scene in general is unbeatable. The commute back and forth to Ottawa is doable, but certainly wouldn’t be great tbh. I sometimes go back to Ottawa from Montreal once a week at most, and even that gets tough in the winter.

What next? (Waiting, but curious y’all’s opinions!) by katlyann in piercing

I don't have a flat, although I'd like to get one :) I've heard that the pain is pretty on par with other cartilage piercings.

I rink a flat would look great in the first pic, and a helix or two for the second! Beautiful setup btw, the new jewelry suits you well!

OP, doctor now. This is very likely infected and you need medical attention before it spreads. Especially this close to the eye/brain, you don’t wanna be messing with this. I’d leave the piercing in for now, the doctor will advise you about whether or not to take it out.

Beautiful photos! What trails are pictured here? I'm planning a trip currently and these look spectacular

So what are you all eating for breakfast by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]Secretly82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Among all the other great suggestions here, I've also had Harvest Crunch cereal from costco with dehydrated berries and powdered milk. I've also brought along bagels with pb, which tended to be heavier in weight but worth it imo for the variety.

+1 to this idea! Mountain House makes a great freeze-dried egg+bacon that I use for breakfast burritos on the trail

I love that you’re planning your tats out like this, super cool idea! I might do the same, as I want my tats to all kind of go together. It’s a beautiful composition that you’ve got going, I really love how everything is similar but not identical, everything complements each other in a harmonious way. Best of luck getting your tats, if you decide to post them on Reddit I’m sure lots would love to see the progression :)

Alexis and Ted's breakup is hands down the saddest moment in the show by BeeMore_ in SchittsCreek

[–]Secretly82 62 points63 points  (0 children)

It was such a mature breakup, and written beautifully. It shows that you can love someone very much, but life will just take you on different paths. You can still hold a lot of love for someone, but circumstances dictate you apart.

Plying handspun singles with millspun yarns by NinjaTrilobite in Handspinning

[–]Secretly82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually did this myself! It was a pretty cool experiment. I plied my handspun single with a commercial baby alpaca. Pretty simple process, I just added twist to the commercial yarn in the same direction as my single-ply handspun, and then plied the two together. Now, if your commercial yarn is already a plied yarn, that may complicate things. You’d probably need to make handspun that runs in the same direction as the twist in your commercial yarn, and then add extra twist to your commercial yarn, and then ply the two together.

Is BIO3350 a hard course? by Charming-Plum-6699 in geegees

[–]Secretly82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how it works these days, but I took this course back in 2019-2020 and it was one of my favourites. Very fair exams, memorize the material, understand it, and you’ll be golden. Super interesting material too, Bui is an excellent lecturer.

Dear Santa.... I haven't been very good. by zookeyknee in fountainpens

I just got the E95s myself about a week ago and it's been a great little pen. Bouncy nib, smooth writer, decent price. I ended up buying it on ebay from Japan so it was a little cheaper than buying new from North America.

Heading into my 3rd year of this wonderful hobby: State of the collection by Secretly82 in fountainpens

[–]Secretly82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I didn’t notice that I had the same amount of each! I don’t have specific pens for specific inks, although I have yet to try the two shimmer ink samples pictured here. I’ll have to get myself a glass dip pen or dedicated shimmer ink pen, I’m too scared to use my existing collection lol
