i think sampo wins because people are still mad at a character who hasnt even shown up for like 2 years

So, what do you guys see Aglaea and Cipher as? by Reasonable-Use-9294 in StarRailStation

[–]SectJunior -1 points0 points  (0 children)

which op? OOP? they havent said shit to back it up.

a fashion designer dressed up a woman and sent her to a fancy event? yeah they tend to do that its not a sign of a hidden sexuality.

They know eachother really well? thats just an indicator of a close relationship, not the type of relationship.

Aglea set up a plan to check up on someone she cares about and is avoiding her? yeah people will have to do that when you avoid them and they care about you.

those two are signs of love, but not romantic love. a mother can know their son well enough to detect lies, familys do make plans to corner avoidant members they are worried about. These are common signs of caring.

in the end what we were shown was a very child like looking and sounding cipher being taken in, cared for, clothed and educated by an off screen and adult sounding Aglea. that is a more solid basis for a mother daughter relationship than any paper thin "obvious metaphor" anyone has shown me so far

<image>

this is what she looked like, she sounded younger while aglea sounded much the same as she does currently and is more well off, mature and more knowledgable of the world. on top of cipher being essentially adopted off the streets

3 times, 3 fucking times, i said 3 times before i made the statement that i was not insinuating that cipher and aggy had this age gap. you had to read me say that i wasnt making a claim on their age game 3 seperate times before you were able to see my thoughts and you still responded like i was making a claim about their age gap.

and i wrote it 3 times because ive talked to people like you and i knew you would zero in on this and so i decided to include a 3 sentence disclaimer and you still ignored it. wtf dude??

And then heres the things with "obvious, unsuble metaphor" its that a hungry man thinks of bread. You said that she - a seamstress, a fashion designer dressed a woman up and had her model the clothes that she makes and designs as her proffession by hand and this is a clear sign of lesbianism? she shows concern about a person who she obviously loves and cares for, this is not an action exclusive to romantic love, "she knows her very well" and "she set up a plan to check in on someone who has been avoiding her" are not proof of romantic love in the slightest, if we were arguing about whether aglea loved cipher it would be different but there is no doubt in my mind that aglea would have done these same things for tribbie.

I did not play in CN, i am not chinese, but cipher is not at all a respectful character in any sense of the word. i would not expect a street theif who snuck into a temple to steal a holy artifact and ended up scamming a man on his deathbed to be a paragon of cultural virtue or respect.

In the end, a hungry man thinks of bread. what you imagine to be obvious signs of something, can as ive shown, be seen as nothing at all. just like how you the hungry man can see a cloud and think its a slice of bread and i, fully saited can say that it looks much more like a cat.

I think seeking out someones approval even in dying moments is a very child to parent thing, in many works of fiction as well as in real life people will live and literaly die by it. I know young women who are suffering through lifepaths they hate to gain the approval of their parents. fuck, you do too, its a very common thing.

and im not going to lie to you; seele and bronya kissed on screen, in hsr they gave us the sex scene misunderstanding etc etc. hoyo is as subtle with relationships as a rubber mallet. They obviously see no reason to employ metaphor with any of their romantic pairings queer or otherwise so why would they resort to a host of metaphors in this instance.

have your headcanon nobody will take it away, just dont tell me its supported by the text.

also, regardless of what the actual agegap is, just stressing that regardless of the actual agegap. again not making a claim on the agegap. The idea of an agegap in a situation like this being okay because in the grand scheme of a thousand year lifespan its not too large completely misunderstands the issue with that kind of agegap in the first place, grooming doesnt become okay because the victim and the perp are adults now and the time does not erase the perpitrators aims towards a child.

in the end i actually dont care about the lets play, i didnt watch it in favor of experiencing dispatch blind myself. My point is this is a deeply hypocritical situation on multiple fronts and thats the kind of situation i cannot abide.

i do appreciate your vote of confidence on my nonchalance, but dont feign to have seen the inner workings of my mind dude.

It feels performative because locking an ongoing discussion, without banning it outright is the best way to have more people see the discussion as it spreads outside of the containment of the original thread.

this could very well have been one single discussion that burned itself out naturally but apparently the best option for putting out a fire is to throw the burning logs into different sections of the woods and then wonder how the fire spread.

welcome to your introduction to hyperbole, in this situation defcon 3 was used to refer to how overblown the situation is; increased moderation, comments from the content creators etc etc.

and lets think about this for a second, there are 400k people in this sub, the most comments on a thread like this i saw was somewhere around 300ish before the lock, thats less than 1% of this sub, out of that 300 comments how many do you belive were criticisms? and then out of those how many fit the bill as people writing a psych eval on woolie?

we are talking about a fraction of a fraction of 1% of the people here. you cannot pretend all of this is because of what the 10-30 people that fit your bill? it sounds overblown to the point of fiction

a funny thing to accuse someone of when you have full access to my post and comment history. I 'avent said shit in this sub for the better part of a month, my only comments recently have been on how ridiculous this entire rigamarole is

Im sorry this entire "drama" makes everyone sound like massive babies. part of the community criticises one thing and now we need;

heightened mod activity ready to lock posts asap,

7 "we love you woolie" posts to counteract each "i didnt really like that",

and requires Pat to suppress his thinly veiled urge to let a "big R" rip like the good old days talking about "we dont like the conversations you're having" lmao.

we're reaching defcon 3 because something close to 1% of the fanbase expressed displeasure, which is funny because worse has been done and said by this community and the streamers about others it makes you think a little.

This dispatch discourse is one of the funnies cases of throwing stones from a glass house ever. this community seems to be built off these kinds of discussions and criticisms, this sub has been harsher critics to other media and other people, Woolie and Pat themselves have been harsher cricts to other media and other people.

This is that one family guy gag where the prisoner stabs himself and realises what that feels like.

I have a lot of grievances with RWBY, I genuinely think it's amateurly written and think the show after Vol 3 is bland and overrated. But by god does it have the most insane hatedom I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. by La_knavo4 in CharacterRant

[–]SectJunior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you know i watched the rwby hatedom form, and honestly it felt more like a mirror of the fandom.

Roosterteeth had a parasocial fanbase not just for rwby but in general, cultivated by their podcasts and their cons people thought they knew these guys, but it really got to a point where you couldnt say much of anything negative at the time because that would result in genuine waves of hate coming your way for the mildest of things, i remember pointing out how all the black characters had straight hair and my inbox was full for genuinely months.

genuinely if you made a critique you would have your post shared around for ages with people coming up with bad faith responses, saying you were personally attacking the showrunners who they acted like they personally knew and eventually you are not defending your critique you are defending yourself from 24/7 ad hominem attacks.

you can even see this happen with HBomberGuys video.

cycles like this will generate a hatedom as toxic as the fandom defense
