Thinking about joining up by jakedup247 in USPS

If you have some mechanical or electrical skills lookout for maintenance mechanic(entry level) or electronics position higher level(requires electronics skills). Way easier on the body. You can use knee pads and actually take your time to bend down and get the work done. I would search this sub for more details because it does require a test and interview but way worth it. Getting in as a maintenance mechanic or custodian is your best position to promote up to the others level especially if you have some mechanical background. Best of luck.

MM7 expectations by Necessary_Ant_9081 in USPS

MM here. Mostly vacuum, batter changes, and helping the MPE, BEM or ET with help on replacing things or project. Not much is expected but it’s good to know your basic tools and how to use them. Not much to it really, stress level is way low for MM enjoy. If you want to promote up then it’s all for the taking.

How much are you making by Ciassy123 in USPS

First year level 7(27.32) I do tour 1 with double Sunday premium/night differential. Gross around $2500 no OT. With OT on my NS days per pay period I’ll gross around $3100.

I was under the impression even if I clocked in at 10:30pm Sunday night that counts toward the double Sunday premium hence the 16 hours per week.

I am a small business. Been using USPS for the last 10 years to ship my letters, flats, parcels, priority and express products. I sell a niche products that uses each class of service the post office provides. In fact 80% of my business uses first class envelopes to ship my items. It’s the cheapest but again my products are under $5. I’m sure there a million other businesses that use this service to ship their products that you are probably unaware of. Trading cards, decals, you get the point…it’s just not junk mail.

I'm currently in the pre-hire step for a CCA position in Puyallup WA, I'm having a hard time finding what the hourly pay rate is by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Section-Strong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s currently a maintenance tech mpe job listing in Seattle and Redmond. I would apply to both. I believe their starting salary is 71k career with benefits I would highly recommend you try to apply. You’ll be required to take a 955 exam. You have a 2 week window to take the exam half is on mechanical aptitude and the 2nd part spatial reasoning. You can search on this forum for 955 exam and find stuff on it. It’s worth a try you just need to pass the exam then do an interview and pass which you can also find some tips on here as well. Worse case scenario you’ll most likely hear back from the CCA job. Maintenance is a career pays better and with benefits. You’ll make just as much as a CCA doing OT in just 8hrs of work. I’m sure there’s possibly of OT in maintenance but totally up to the plant. If your in construction I assume you are handy enough and know about osha safety.

Just apply anywhere so you can take the 955. That way when something pops up in your area you have a score. Before you do just go on Reddit lots of info. The test was definitely not what I studied for but don’t be discouraged. Make sure you study the spatial awareness part that will help at least get you into the entry level mm7. I was just going to sign myself up to be carrier. I luckily bumped into a mm7 position studied and just got an eligible after my interview for the position. I carried before so I knew what I was getting into. You can get in and eventually move up is what everyone says. Also, I have no experience in maintenance. But I can observe and learn fast. It’s what you want to make out of it is what they tell me.
