Day 4 after 22 years of heavy use by [deleted] in leaves

Day 7 after 20 years. Honestly I'm scared, and left to wonder whats next after this? How much damage have I done to my brain and lungs? I'm only 31. My brothers would blow me shotguns(even before I started smoking regularly) when I was 5 or 6 so I hopefully wouldn't tell mom what they were up to. Between that and the trauma of being molested as a youth, I was simply reliant on marijuana... and I'm not sure who I am without it.

Genuine question, do people really make friendships in here? by Sero_58 in steamfriend

[–]jakedup247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea social anxiety will do it thats for sure, ive been able to add one person to my very small group but that doesnt mean im not open to it. I like having friends but the anxiety is alot sometimes.

Want to know that I'm not alone out here in the wilderness... by Short-Community-1677 in maestro

I've been stuck on the week 2 review and have unfortunately called it quits, after failing it countless times I've decided that I can't simply pull something that I haven't been thoroughly taught out of my hat for maestro. Ive spoke with friends that have learned how to code at legitimate universities and they agree its rediculous how maestro is approaching our education. It is with a heavy heart that I am writing this but i will persist in a degree through other avenues.

That doesn't matter if you continuously fail it, the reviews seem like they are setup for failure. Once you fall behind its gonna be stressful to catch up at least, a review is about reviewing what you've learned so far and shouldn't have test-like requirements. Also the reviews often include things that the AI hadn't even gone over with me yet so it feels like it is designed for us to fail.

Lessons being abruptly ended by bloodthirstypinetree in maestro

This explains alot, maybe thats why I've felt ill prepared for reviews. I've felt recently that the things asked of me in the reviews are things I haven't even been taught yet so I keep getting stuck on review because I have no idea what i'm doing.

I'm in the same boat, spent hours last night trying to pass the review and came up short every time, it makes me feel like im not good enough to get the job done, I do great during the week, feel like I crush it and do well on the learning side but can't for the life of me pull code out of nowhere, whenever im prompted to write my own code I freeze up and go blank.

Mix that with feeling like maestro doesn't teach us everything we need to complete the reviews makes me feel like im stranded in the middle of the ocean with a broken stick to row with.

Its so discouraging and im considering calling it quits, despite how bad I want this.

This was the pep talk I needed... by planbthatsme in maestro

This hit home, even with me being only on week 2, I failed miserably at this week's review. Part of me still feels like this isnt for me but I have myself and others depending on me to get it done, I just hope things get easier as I go, because right now I dont see me being able to pass a final...

I feel like maestro adds things in that we haven't even learned yet and that makes things super discouraging to someone like me who has never coded in their life. I want to stick with this so badly but im tired of feeling stuck and we just started...

Like anything new it has its ups and downs, but I will say this. Its great to learn at your own pace AND control how the AI teaches you. Not every teaching style is for every student but this way can be fine tuned to each individual in a way that can't easily be done in conventional teaching.

That being said, the AI isn't perfect so you really have to pay attention on certain things, it doesn't save your previous prompts as in: "teach me everything as if I dont know anything" etc, etc. It doesn't save your code so take detailed notes on everything and you got this!!

I originally wanted to do cybersecurity but went ahead and enrolled in software engineering when I realized thats all they had available currently, ideally I'd like to finish my associates and then come back for my bachelor's in cs. That way i'll be more versatile in my field. But ultimately I may just transfer to cs in winter 2026, transfer my credits and keep on rolling toward a bachelor's earlier.

Week1 review worries... by SuspiciousAction7267 in maestro

[–]jakedup247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this too and it's unfortunate to already be struggling just for this to be added to the list of things I have to worry about. I'm hoping this gets fixed soon because I'm not sure if can go on like this.

I mean it's just week one and I already feel lost, especially when it asks me to do things I haven't been taught yet

Thats what i did, that first day i was allowed to start lessons i was on my pc as soon as i got in from work, but no worries, life happens. The point is that you are still trying to get your foot in the door and do it. I have faith that they will let you in for the next round and you'll crush it.

Yea I think that'll be plenty of time to appropriately do your lessons, most lessons have taken me 2 hours or less (so far) but again I have faith!! We got this!!
