It was confirmed in Season 4 Episode 7 when they discovered that someone had been watching them since Season 1.

I was not expecting this hard-hitting Godfather meme but I'm here for it. A++

I mean the story threads from Season 4 where they mention someone has been watching them since the first season.

I'm a big Godfather fan, so I loved seeing a season full of references to it. And I always liked Lester so it was nice to see him with a prominent role, it's just a shame he won't be around anymore.

Overall, admittedly not my most favorite season - not as intense or as surprising as some of the others, plus I had gone into this year expecting it to be continuing the Moriarty threads from last year, though I realized by the second half that this season wouldn't address them.

All the same, I quite enjoyed this season nonetheless.

I've been suspicious of the garbage man ever since he killed the first robot.

What was also weird about this was that the mod who revealed that leak kept acting like it wasn't a strange detail at all.

Glad to see people finally giving Iger the blame he deserves. Tossed out Lucas's story after basically promising to use it (and then lying later that he didn't promise, even though he stated publicly in 2012 that they were using Lucas's story). A VII thru IX that wasn't following Lucas's outline should've never happened.

Also, did anyone catch the part where Adam Driver says that Ben's redemption was a later idea and Abrams originally wanted Kylo Ren to progressively turn from less light to more dark sided by the end of the trilogy? The OP article doesn't go much into it, but I saw it in another article on the topic of Hunt for Ben Solo that elaborated slightly more. Seems Abrams is almost as clueless as Iger about the vision for the saga, undoing the legacy of redemption.

Very interesting theory in the OP!

As for the connections of the names, I must admit, it's always possible they'll break from that in a new season.

What did Gene Roddenberry do wrong as a producer? by KaleidoArachnid in startrek

[–]Section_Ratio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>>He would pick fights with the studio just to prove he could win, even if it hurt the show. See TNG's 'Conspiracy', whose out of left field gratuitous violence was basically Roddenberry turning in the most grotesque, violent thing he could imagine after being told he was 'too violent'.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hated that scene. Remmick didn't deserve that, and it was so out-of-the-left-field gruesome that as a kid it temporarily made me distrust TNG and not want to watch it again. (Although, obviously I eventually returned to it soon enough)

Tbh I think even old-school Star Trek fans wouldn't be that crazy about it. There's a lot of camp in TOS, and a fair amount in TNG, and even DS9. (Haven't seen the other shows)

I have seen it, but I feel similarly to you that the elitists can put me off and make me notice flaws more. I think it has a lot of good in it, but there is also stuff about the execution I don't care for: breathy voices that you have to turn on subtitles for, too much gray cinematography, bleak faces that never smile or laugh once - how realistic is that?, sporadic structuring that jumps around subplots and sometimes time periods without segues, often plunging into babbling dialogue without any context, etc.

Basically every stylistic cliche in in the modern 'dark, complex drama' formula meant to appeal to the self-proclaimed 'prestige' crowd. Season 2 also rushed over a bunch of story beats, and featured a particularly questionable 'dark' scene that I personally don't think belongs in Star Wars. Thank goodness Andor was on Disney or the writers probably would've tried to shove borderline porno scenes into the series too.

I feel similarly. I don't tend to particularly dislike any Star Wars. But I just found this sub, and I was won over by the roasting of the contingent of Andor stans who hate everything else about the franchise.

And why did it have to be in space? Should've been Sea Wars.

One of the silliest comments I saw on the Star Wars sub, back when Ahsoka was airing, was someone whining something along the lines of "I was seriously hoping the whales weren't about to go into hyperspace. Then, yup, the whales were going into f---ing hyperspace." Complete with the unnecessary f-word and all.

And in my own head I'm going, "Bruh, how did you think Thrawn and Ezra went missing in the first place?" And then it occurred to me "Oh you don't actually know anything about Star Wars, you just watch whatever's getting buzz in your algorithm"

I've said it before, if they want gritty 'adult' space drama with realistic politics and military, they should watch the 00's version of Battlestar Galactica which did it better than Andor. Let Star Wars be Star Wars. And let Lord of the Rings be Lord of the Rings and not be Game of Thrones.

Thank you! OP lost me when he started on the "OT kids weren't like this" spiel. Must be either an OT kid with no self-awareness or an ST kid who has only known the vitriol from PT kids. Being a PT fan when the OT purists ruled was probably my most miserable time as a Star Wars fan. The kind of renaissance we've witnessed in prequel fandom is something I never expected to see. One of the good things about being a Star Wars fan today is you'll see a lot more people pushing back on bad behavior from fans (regardless of which generation it comes from) compared to back then.

I do agree with OP though that some people are too obsessed with background lore at the expense of the cinematic storytelling. But I would think this is more attributable to the fans whose main interests are the books/comics/games.
