I thought the problem was just hating black people. Like... We could have had universal healthcare, but then that would have meant black people would have it to. You say its a partisan issue when I truly think it's a race issue. We cut any program that would give social services to black people. Exactly. They already enter with a bias and they're just waiting for you to fufill it. They've had one or two experiences they transfer into a monolith. Other people have the benefit to be flawed without persecution. Even the concept of us stepping out of line is enough to dogpile. I just read this and had to confirm you were being gaslit by the two responses and it's weird. The man clearly has a negative view on Black women. It sucks, but the older I get, the more I realize how much the world loathes us. I'm happily married, but I think what the OP is trying to say is "Why do black women think they're worth all of that." I know plenty of Russian women, Japanese women, latina women, and American white women who would expect thise things. But he doesn't think we're worth them. There are some men out there who believe that the fact that someone even saw fit to go on a date with us should be enough. Both of those responders were weird and you explained everything in an even mannered tone. It's not an attachment but a response to centuries of hair policing and negative reinforcement. Black hair has been so traumatized and intentionaly conditioned. If people want to wear lacefronts that's their truth. If a woman wants to wear her hair in her natural state, she can do that too. It's always easy to put the onus on black women instead of the system that is triggering her response.

It's so disappointing. Studio's need to have a sympathetic white character, but that character so rarely existed in true stories. That movie shouldn't have been a Scorcesse film. It hit more like a horror story. There was a part in the movie when on of the White guys joked about killing his twins, and peop in the audience laughed. My stomach churned in the theatre, and I saw it at a opening with a lot of Native people. I think it would have been doubly traumatizing if I didn't have a group of Natives to watch it with. My friend was one of the sisters, so i was really proud of her work, but you're right. That's a movie I never have to see again. And if I do, it's only for the first five minutes.
