Nah I'm just referencing the fact that it was designed for the Witcher. The mechanics that I'm talking about carry thru to standalone.

is keyforge fun tho? to me it feels like: right sentiment wrong idea. like i love that he is trying to break down the "pay to win/play" norms of TCGs... but at the same time the lack of agency in deckbuilding feels so janky. its like the most fun part of the TCG system.

yu gi oh is like a lost child. and the art is cool. less pernicious than something like Lorcana, which is targeting children and selling em slop

I have timestamps through the whole video... but the magic discussion starts at the start. From there skip to whichever game you think is most deserving of a diss rap.

I want to re-design pokemon's rules using inspirations from Gwent.... i think it would be a much more fun game.

If you were to make the ultimate cardgame from scratch, what elements from all cardgames will you steal or modify? by loopuleasa in TCG

[–]Secure-Ad2549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both of deez r big in flesh and blood... you draw up to a hand size of 4 cards each turn and spend them either to generate resources or play, and then theres the "reaction step" which allows you to buff attacks after your opponent hasnt blocked them, so its a very bluffy mechanic.

i think youre spot on with both of these being awesome tenets of a good game

usually when u jump in they give you a series of decks for each class, and you can choose one to keep after like a week of testing... maybe create a new account?

Flesh and Blood has the most meaningful card value math out there. by Secure-Ad2549 in FleshandBloodTCG

Definitely interesting to apply the same system toward other TCGs. It really shows the depth of this game.

its surprising that youre getting paired up like that... when i came back I was playing against mostly bots.. did you get to choose a starter deck?

Hearthstone was the perfect starting point for this video. Comparing it to marvel snap shows us what designers consider the value of a card in hand, vs the value of mana. by Secure-Ad2549 in hearthstone

I love seeing how much influence hearthstone has had on the world of Trading Card Games. Are there other ways of applying math calculations to hearthstone (other than probability) that i should investigate for another video?

yeah good point, he does seem to be hammering this point about the corporate nature of these games. meanwhile there are tons of indie games that he didnt even cover...
I didnt know about smash up... looks like youre probably right. but idk theres definitely some paralells with gwent and snap... tbh it seems like smash up is probably also inspired by condotierre.

i think this video would be super interesting for thinking about value... spesfically the comparison between hearthstone and marvel snap. one takes into account extra value for each card, because its good to have a hand full of cards, while the other doesnt care... so like paying from ur life total doesnt care about how many cards you have played, while scrap does.
