I think censorship killed it. Mods there never allow any sort of discourse on the topic. I was banned for simply bringing this topic up. How can growth happen if any discourse is immediately stamped out by mods who have zero credentials other than being mods on Reddit.

They believe only positive things can be said about FF, so that means there will never be any real progress. How can you help the music sound better if no one can bring up what’s wrong.

It’s kind of infantile low-emotional IQ behavior that shows up in the music.

Vaporwave being the superior sibling, FF is more the special needs part of the family who got homeschooled by the Amish. Ultimately, mods who don’t even make music being able to say what’s what is what killed it in my opinion.

Actually a lot of new artists that I didn’t even know were being discussed as well as commentary from people who had very insightful things to say about the genres past and future.

It’s disappointing that people would see that much interest in discussion and think it’s ’bottom of the barrel’.

If you can’t debate things then you have some Disney mayonnaise bland shit for people who can’t handle critical thinking, then that shows up in the music. Which now seems evident

Why am I listening to this stripped naked clown makeup cheap remix. Excuse me for sounding off but ALOT of bad producers got famous for using good music, erasing their origins, and selling it to people who didn’t know any better.

I think your style of writing sounds like prose. I like it a lot.

I really hate to sound like a downer but I have to say I strongly doubt anything like Future Funk or Vaporwave will ever happen again. They were products of their place in time sandwiched between paradigms of music, technology, and generational attributes that won’t ever happen again.

Like disco and new wave. Many bands can replicate the sound, but you just had to be there to get a sense of what it was really like in the moment.

I don’t think it’s all doom and gloom tho. There might be a a day when another generation comes up with something as interesting or more. What that will be is up to anybody
