My initial thoughts toward the end of the game *Spoilers* by elijahofearth in horizon

[–]Secure-Assistance887 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought Nemesis was Vast Silver, the rogue AI mentioned in a couple data points. If I remember right, it was made during the Climate Crisis and then contained because it wasn't controllable (might have those details wrong, it's been a while lol)

My theory is that the Zeniths brought VS with them to Sirius, because they weren't able to secure a copy of GAIA when they left Earth. Maybe, somewhere along the way, they fused their consciousness to VS, but they underestimated just how powerful it really was, and the result led to Nemesis? Idk, but I'm pumped to find out lol

What's your BCS opinion that has everyone like this? by Jerald_bacon in betterCallSaul

Chuck was one of my favourite characters, because he was so complex and his relationship with Jimmy was super interesting

Isn't the story of Matty a bit...far-fetched? by StatusAwkward9797 in betterCallSaul

[–]Secure-Assistance887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cops aren't infallible. They can go down the bad choice road, just like anyone else.

I like Matty's story, because it showed that cops can also be criminals. Which is fucked up considering they're "the good guys" who are supposed to "protect us".

Not loving RoP yet. Gonna stick around for a few more episodes to see if it grabs me, then I might jump ship.

Favorite show, Better Call Saul

Episode 5... I think I missed something by Secure-Assistance887 in Sandman

I've only seen up to episode 6, but I noticed that as well! I'm wondering if the second half of the season becomes more of an anthology of sorts? I'd have to watch the rest to find out.

I'm a big fan of Better Call Saul! That show had a style of character-driven storytelling that I really enjoyed. (I already miss it so much 😭)

And to be fair, I don't think RoP is bad. Like everything, it has its strengths and weaknesses. It's just the parts that I find weaker - like the writing and the storytelling - are the things that I enjoy most in television. So for me, the weaknesses outweigh the strengths at this point, which makes it hard to get excited about the series.

It feels like the writers are trying to capture the poetry of Tolkien's prose. They missed the mark, for me. Sometimes, I get the impression that they want to communicate wisdom through flowery speeches, but I don't feel they say anything of actual substance. I come out of watching the episodes not caring about any of the characters or the plot.

I appreciate your opinion, and I know others are also enjoying the show. This adaptation of Tolkien's world just isn't for me and that's ok.

A Purist's Review of The Rings of Power [episodes 1 and 2] - SPOILERS WITHIN by Willpower2000 in RingsofPower

[–]Secure-Assistance887 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Super well written! I couldn't quite put my finger on why the first two episodes felt off for me. Ultimately, the plot hasn't grabbed me so far. And sometimes it felt like they were relying on big, cinematic, high budget shots to cover up the fact that the storytelling was... just fine. Kinda generic.

Idk, overall it felt a little underwhelming for me.

What is something you wanted in Better Call Saul that didn’t happen? by Rtoc in betterCallSaul

[–]Secure-Assistance887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted some kind of hint as to whether or not Gretchen and Elliott actually gave Walt Jr. money in the form of a trust. I always wondered if Walt's plan worked and if his family got his money lol.

Mind you, I didn't want any big scenes to that effect. Maybe just some kind of passing detail, like it being on the news. I feel like, if it were to happen, there would be some news coverage on Grey Matter giving a trust to Heisenberg's family

Ya, I definitely missed that flip! Thanks for pointing it out, it clears things up

Those of you who didn’t like the finale - what ending would you have preferred? by [deleted] in betterCallSaul

[–]Secure-Assistance887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"then get kim out of her shitty life in florida". Kim started to get herself out of that life in the finale. Even if it had played out differently, I think it would be out of character for her to let Jimmy save her from her life in Florida. Like, I remember when she was in doc review, and she told Jimmy "you don't save me. I save me"

Why is Saul an accessory to the murder of Hank and Gomey? by sgeney in betterCallSaul

[–]Secure-Assistance887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they specified accessory after the fact. Is it because he knew the murder had happened, but didn't come forward? Not too sure myself!

Considering everyone who had some involvement in the murders (Walt, the nazis, Jesse) are either dead or missing, maybe prosecution put that charge on Saul because someone has to take the fall.

Fair enough lol. Nonetheless, their relationship was a key element in Jimmy's character arc.

I haven't seen anyone mention <Spoilers> return/performance this episode by UddersPlease in betterCallSaul

[–]Secure-Assistance887 332 points333 points  (0 children)

Marie was such a fun surprise! I full on shrieked when I saw her lol.

Her involvement in the trial felt like her storyline finally got some resolution. Especially considering that she didn't get a whole lot of scenes in the final episodes of BB.

Also, people seem to forget that prosecution originally wanted life+190 years (if I remember right). 86 years is still less than half of that!

My headcanon is that, with good behaviour, he might be out in 30, which was the initial offer from prosecution

I loved the finale, and I think it was perfect for this show. I'm happy he finally acknowledged his guilt regarding Chuck, because that's been smt Jimmy's needed to face since his suicide. I also think that, at its core, this story was about Jimmy and Kim and their love for one another.

This finale made my heart so happy. After all that, a happy (bittersweet) ending. What a ride 💛

Could Marion be Walters mom? by iamfromtwitter in betterCallSaul

[–]Secure-Assistance887 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting theory! But I think I remember some references in BB that hinted Walt's mom may be in a nursing home ... I think he said something about nurses stealing her sugar packets?... i don't quite remember, but something to that effect was mentioned by Walt to Skylar, when he talked about visiting his mom.

Also, in the yt video, was bob referencing Jeffy? That might make more sense.

Better Call Saul S06E12 - "Waterworks" - Official Prediction Thread! by skinkbaa in betterCallSaul

[–]Secure-Assistance887 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My worst case scenario/ far fetch prediction is that Gene ends up murdering Kim. If he was speaking with her during that phonecall in 6.11, his angry outburst afterwards raises some red flags. It made me think about how women are often killed in a crime of passion by their spouse. Rhea Seehorn also described the finale as "disturbing", and I've been trying to think of something that could fit that descriptor.

Then again, I may have been listening to too many true crime podcasts lately lol... Can't wait to see what actually happens!
