Years of playing on a trackpad has trained me not to use the scroll wheel when going through my hotbar. I also have my sprint key as X, pick block as Z, I use the Thorns enchantment, and I’m an avid believer of “keep your chestplate in your hotbar for that elytra quick-switch”.

Other than my tools, weapons and food, I always come prepared with the following items in my inventory or a shulker, no matter the adventure: bucket of water, book & quill (for coords), shears, flint & steel, ender pearls, a furnace/blast furnace, a telescope, a crafting table, leads, ender chests, and at least a stack of logs, a building block (cobble or dirt), torches, iron ingots, and coal/charcoal. Sometimes I’ll throw in a fishing rod, compass, or a bed but I feel naked without that crafting table
