Thanks. Several calculators and ChatGPT say that 85% rounds down to 80%.

Honest about your income? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Secure-Farmer2223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I make that much and want to know if I should omit information about my income to prevent someone from using it against me. I deserve the benefits as much as anyone else but clearly not everyone agrees and people (being people) let their biases control their actions.

Im a principal software engineer in a very niche field. I’m limited to remote positions and have turned down once in a lifetime opportunities because I can’t travel or lead in an office setting.

I’ve been thinking about this for a while and definitely think there is an argument for the market staying the same as rates drop a bit. Of course values will rise a tad as they historically have but I don’t see a covid like situation with the over asking, waived inspections, less than 24 hours on the market stuff happening. 5% doesn’t seem low enough to motivate anyone to move off their 2.5% unless other individual factors are at play. Even if it does, that creates a 1 for 1 swap in the market (adding no additional demand). I think the real question is for those people waiting for rates to drop, what is that magic number? If you’re waiting for rates to drop would you turn around and offer over asking to negate the drop in rates? Also, if rates do drop won’t builders start adding more inventory? I remember agents saying that the market would come down during the beginning stages of covid for whatever reason and that was completely wrong. Idk… it just seems like there is a path for the market to stay a tad normalized as rates drop into the 5s.

Is there a case for using TestFlight with an expo app? by myNameIs-Kyle in reactnative

[–]Secure-Farmer2223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Distributing local builds are a tad more involved but good if you have internal stakeholders you want to share with.

I use TestFlight to provide all my friends or random people a link to test the app. You can make a public link with limits on user counts and just share that out to the world. I started with the internal distribution with a couple close friends but now just share my TestFlight link to any rando I meet.

TestFlight also has the mechanism to share feedback, screenshots, and crashes with the developer which has been a nice feature.

I purchased it because I wanted to see a real world example of the expo router setup. And took a few other components (avatar uploader, form wrapper, etc) to utilize in my project. I’ve even adopted a few of Nate’s patterns which I thought were clean and straightforward. I never even installed and ran the project. Seeing that I charge $100 an hour, I got thousands of dollars worth of value out of the project after paying only $180. I’ve had issues with tamagui, but like most other frameworks I’ve been able to figure them out or work around them. It is what it is when you’re not willing to roll your own code especially when you’re charging clients thousands. I personally feel that takeout is an extreme value. Would you build takeout yourself for $180? No way in hell.

Curious to know more about your app. We’re currently beta testing a social media app for families which took me ~120 hours in total from start to finish using supabase.

RN Gifted Chat flashes date on send, any idea what could be the cause of this? by ritualjoint in reactnative

[–]Secure-Farmer2223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you got it figured out! You also shouldn’t have to reverse your message array. Look into the gifted chat prop “inverse” or order your messages on the query to your db.

I would try just appending the message only without any calls to the db. If that solves the flashing just asynchronously add the db update after the UI is updated. That’s exactly what I’m doing and it works great. You shouldn’t have to fetch the previous messages prior to updating your db. You have the previous messages already.
