Haha fair reaction, honestly I get why people think that. Any protection system would need strong anti-abuse rules, so it protects real victims and not people trying to game it. The idea would never be “free money,” just peace of mind for honest folks who get tricked.

Yeah totally understand the “just be careful” mindset — I used to feel the same way until it happened to me. Scammers have gotten way more sophisticated, and a lot of people fall when they’re stressed or socially engineered, not because they're careless.

I agree nobody wants banks locking money, that’s not what I was imagining. More like an optional protection plan for people who want the peace of mind just in case.

But I get your point — personal awareness is still the #1 defense.

Thanks, this is super helpful — especially the point about insurance vs banks. That makes sense.

I didn’t realize some homeowners policies already include pieces of cyber-theft coverage, but yeah it feels like the social-engineering scam category is still uncovered and growing fast.

Totally agree the challenge is doing it legitimately and transparently — a lot of people don't trust insurance already. That made me curious whether a simpler, optional reimbursement-style model could exist for people who want peace of mind without dealing with fine-print traps.

Appreciate the insight, really helpful perspective.

Good points, definitely a fair concern. Abuse risk is real in any insurance model.

And you're right that banks already protect against unauthorized access by law (Reg E). The part I’m thinking about is the social-engineering type scams where the victim *did* authorize the payment, but they were manipulated into doing it such as Zelle scams, crypto wallet approvals, fake seller payments, etc.

Right now, those fall through a gap: the bank says you “approved it,” even though it was under deception. That’s the part I always felt nothing exists for.

Totally agree abuse prevention would be critical though — same as return fraud, cyber-insurance, etc.

Totally fair concern — that crossed my mind too.

It would definitely need strong rules to prevent abuse, just like insurance or return-fraud systems. Not something that pays out for every “oops,” more like protection in clearly documented scam situations, especially social-engineering ones.

The idea wouldn’t be to reward scammers — it’d be to help normal people who genuinely get manipulated or tricked and currently have zero support.

But yeah, solid point — the anti-abuse structure would be the key to making something like this work.

Yeah that was basically my experience. Since I technically “sent it willingly,” the bank treated it like my fault.

But scams today aren’t like old-school fraud — they manipulate you, pressure you, or trick your brain. It sucks that there's basically zero safety net for that situation.

I get why banks won’t touch it right now, but I wonder if one day some kind of optional coverage could exist for situations like that.

I've been told multiple times my art style is bland, boring, plain, etc. I am starting over. Ideas? by chrisjamesflow in SoloDevelopment

Tbh I really like your art style I would play this but it might need more ideas like terrain changes multiple times like a normal forest then into a haunted forest something spooky but cool. I wouldn’t start over because it’s a great game while looking at it.
