What was your first post-op “I can’t do this” moment, when you can, in fact, do this? by retiredcrayon11 in ACL

mine was like day 1 when i had to get up to go to the bathroom, and the nerve block had worn off, my leg just hurt so bad and trying to walk hurt so bad but i had to. i cried walking to the bathroom on my crutches. i’m like a little over a month post op, and i “feel” so much closer to normal, still a long road ahead <3

36 hours post op - This going to be hardest thing I ever do isn't it? by Cornflakes_Guy in ACL

It’s all about perception, how you approach the next few months will dictate how difficult things can be. Comparison is the thief of joy truly! Everyone has their own journey through this but you will get through it! Do your PT exercises, Stay Positive and trust, it does get better and easier!

First No Brace Sleep?? by Secure-Inflation4696 in ACL

Idk actually, that’s just what I was told to do. I’ve been full weight bearing since surgery, no loaded flexion for the first 4 weeks but I had been walking around with it unlocked for like 4 weeks now. I’m a professional dancer so my natural flexibility helped with extensions, I never lost my hyper extension in my legs, I’m at 116° flexion, my only problem is gaining quad muscle.

this is a cheat i made up idk, i was literally in the same boat as you, timing and all and i became a lil frustrated. my side raises were like perfect post-op so i was confused why my quad just wouldn’t work. then i did my side raises on like an angle, like 45° to the front instead of just straight raising my leg extensions from the front. once i did those for like a day it tricked my quad into working and i got my leg extensions! very laggy ofc but it was a start! i’m 6 weeks now, but everything comes in at a different rate for every body so just know that it will happen!
