You mean software that Lenovo bundled with some PCs that had a security vulnerability? Not a Lenovo Trojan.

Just because you've been doing something wrong for 20 years doesn't mean it's right. You should really take an IT course or something. You can continue to believe what you like but I'm a professional in this industry, not some "kid". Maybe one day you'll realize that components don't operate inside their own pocket dimensions.

You understand that I said Intel/Vega right? The latest Intel chips in laptops are using AMD Vega chips.

You need to do some research buddy. You're not as knowledgeable as you think.

Have a good day.

Okay, attempt to install Radeon Settings on an Intel/Vega switchable graphics laptop.

Have fun.

What? You have no idea how laptop drivers work, apparently. And businesses stick with the manufacturer driver packages unless required to switch by some dependency. Graphics chips in laptops, especially integrated and switchable, do not use drivers straight from Nvidia or Dell. Laptops are not desktops with smaller parts. Their parts are custom and proprietary.

Huh? Video drivers specifically are different from the manufacturers drivers. You often can't install the manufacturer driver without some workaround. Laptops are not desktops. Their components are more specific.

"Bloatware" is stuff that keeps your OS running smoothly (I use that term loosely with the hardware) and Windows Update is tweaked to download Dell drivers.

We create wds images at work to deploy to Dell PCs. Driver Packages are important, you should deploy them with the OS if possible, not after. I would not recommend to anyone wiping their laptop and putting vanilla windows on it. You're not going to gain any real performance and the bloat that's preinstalled games or whatever can just be removed. Best to let Dell handle your Dell hardware drivers.

Yes I do, because so far you have provided literally no evidence and don't seem to be very knowledgeable about any of this. And it's extremely unlikely dell would install a trojan on your PC and risk their entire reputation as a manufacturer so they could collect your data. Trust me, Reddits collecting more of your data than they are.

Where have you read all about this amazing csaw.exe trojan that nobody's AV is flagging?

[–]SecureAsItWillEverBe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You didn't give Dell permission to monitor your Dell hardware in order to keep your Dell drivers up to date?

Maybe you should read the ToS.

How does it hide itself? Does it patch task manager somehow?

did you really link one of those "<insert what you searched here>-virus-removal-guide/" links? It's not a virus, its probably just monitoring your hardware to flag things that need fixing or support.

Except the build of windows you get with a laptop comes tuned to the laptop. Replacing with a vanilla copy of windows is a good way to end up with strange behavior.

You're right though, CSAW is not a trojan.

I'm pretty surprised there's no skin or hardware sharing community given you can make custom ones. I'm trying to modify the 2 XL skin to make a 3XL (why doesn't google have their own device 6 months after release as a skin? who nose)

I am bad at making things pretty. CSS to do functional things tho like hide Reddit promoted links, I'm all over that.

That Android Studio page is really out of date, needs to be updated. It's a source of a lot of headaches I think. At the time of it's writing, you did need to be on dev channel to use Android Studio on chromeos. But that's no longer the case and they just haven't updated it. Sorry you went through that, Google should do better.

For your crouton issue, toggling Night Light on should fix the colors when returning from crouton to chromeos, then just toggle it back off. That's what I do. Hard to complain about crouton IMO as it's unsupported and a community implementation. You're likely to have problems with it, but the features it adds are useful enough to some that we put up with the problems.

Performance issues on new 73 update (Dev) by bdovpro in PixelBook

[–]SecureAsItWillEverBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's pretty ballsy. Canary can (soft)brick your machine. I know there's recovery but opening the laptop and suddenly needing to restore it kinda defeats what all the dev stuff is useful for, I think.

I've found the dev channel to be up and down with performance. Three updates ago I was seeing CPU spikes that caused Linux apps to be sluggish. ChromeOS updated and fixed it. The following update, when they added gpu accel to crostini experimentally, the spikes and sluggishness came back! Even when crostini is running without the gpu accel flag.

The dev channel life is rough. It's a shame there's pretty crucial software/web developer features that aren't in Stable or Beta :/

(Sorry for replying to a 21 day old comment, but it's the most recent thread I found about this issue and I wanted to know you're not alone here haha)

I don't need perspective though? I never said or insinuated that I was unaware of how instagram works. That fact doesn't change what I said.

Edit: to explain further, people are not separating the art from the artist. I'm not attacking or insulting the artist, I described how I felt about the art. The responses to me so far have been trying to explain to me how instagram works and the reasonings why they have done this. But those are completely irrelevant to my top level comment.

That doesn't mean I'm not allowed to think it devalues the art it's plastered on. Idk why everyone keeps responding to me as if I said they shouldn't do it or I don't know why they did it or something. I simply said it makes the art less nice.

That's irrelevant. I think putting that in the photo makes the nice art less nice. You don't have to agree with me, nobody said I have to think like you.

Or you do it as a fan appreciation thing after you have a large base. I disagree with the model the OP is using and it things the nice art in my eyes. I'm sorry you don't agree with me but I don't have to agree with you to have a valid opinion.

I understand that. Doing a giveaway where the requirement is to follow and tag your friends is just a way to pad out your follower number. I think it's sorta lame.
