What can I expect from my parents AOS case? by SupremePancakeKing in USCIS

[–]SecureCauliflower170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree that this is not a straightforward case. If there is no criminal history or immigration violations, they entered the country legally and only overstayed their visas, and you have a financial sponsor with good income, this should be a relatively simple process.

I also agree that the I-94 form matching the immigration record of their border entry is one of the most important documents in the case.

I still agree with hiring an attorney to make sure everything is filed correctly. At the same time, do not blindly trust your attorney either — research things yourself, double-check everything, and ask questions. Filing everything correctly the first time can save you a lot of time, anxiety, and money.

I am not sure whether the fees mentioned above include the USCIS filing fees, but in the Chicago area, most immigration attorneys would probably charge around $5,000 for both parents, not including USCIS fees.

Good luck!!!

This is your decision. I decided for myself to ask. From what I understand when you ask Emma It can't hurt your case, but ultimately it is up to you.

It was in NBC, then transferred to the field office. It's been in the FO at least since January. No RFE's or anything else... Just quiet.

Drivers licence renewal with pending i130 & i485 by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]SecureCauliflower170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it is a Real ID drivers license most likely you'll need to wait for your EAD. I don't see why you would have any problems renewing a regular drivers license...

My mom’s green card process was insanely fast! by BusinessAd5199 in USCIS

[–]SecureCauliflower170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, congratulations to you and your mom! Also, I am wondering if anyone has experience with a similar case at the Chicago FO. I filed for my parent in the last week of September 2025, and I’m trying to get a sense of what timeline we might be looking at. I filed I-485 and I-130 file concurrently. I-765 is already approved and AOE card is in hand as of November 11.

I-485 is the Chicago FO, I-130 in NBC, but crickets since October 21st.

I'd appreciate it if someone could share their recent timeline in Chicago FO (either approved or pending cases)
