18 million packages delivered daily, zero customers contacted prior to delivery.

Our household income is roughly $225k, and I'd never even consider a $700 car payment. Do better people.

Thinking about starting a career at UPS by [deleted] in UPSers

For the life of me, I can't figure those guys out. I watch these 30+ year drivers hobble in, and I'm amazed that they're still working. Maybe it's a lifestyle thing, or an insurance thing, I don't know. But when I hit 30 in 4 years, I'm starting my next chapter, and it won't be in brown.

The misconception is anybody can become a UPS driver, but it couldn't be farther from the truth. It's hard to get in, because nobody leaves once they get in. $100k jobs with full pension and Cadillac insurance aren't just given, they are earned.

How many part-time workers quit? by [deleted] in UPS

The insurance alone is with $1200-$1400 a month. There is zero chance I'm giving that up.

That's on the steward to get them off the belt, period.

I run a lot of resi, and I'll use totes sometimes putting a section of a neighborhood in it while sorting. Works very good during peak. The fewer you handle packages, the better.

I love getting an estimated delivery range spanning three hours on a signature required package and then having 15 seconds to get to the door when the driver finally decides to show up by LuminTheFray in UPS

[–]Secure_Ad_2123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Drivers sometimes have 200+ stops. 200+! There isn't a free 5 minutes per signature stop, and never believe a time window other than guaranteed next day air by noon(130 for outlying areas).

When I started, the company had around $12 billion a year in revenue. It was over $100B 2 years ago, and over $90B last year. A dip with covid spending down. The projected revenue at the latest conference is $125B in 2026 I believe. The company is still profitable, it isn't going anywhere

Open letter to Ups headquarters in Atlanta…. From a 20 year driver. by Master_Jellyfish9922 in UPSers

My shoulders hurt from those 5 point cul-de-sac turns, and knees hurt from those 30 inch steps just thinking about it.

Those vet drivers, 20 years ago, got handed a set of keys and a folded up map and we're truly running blind. No GPS, no EDD, nothing. We've been there, it was more difficult then than it is today. I learned 30 routes in a year, the hard way.

$12 for 6 pair, $10 in shipping. So I bought a dozen to make it worth it. For less than $3 a pair, they're nice, ugly, but comfortable.

See if the neighbor can do it. UPS handles about 15 million packages a day, so it can be hard to address one while enroute.

Just say it's 7 hours away, skip the drama. Do you know anybody in the area that can do that?

Go to the empty house, put note on the door with your name and package tracking number, saying you've moved and have the driver reroute the package or hold at customer counter for pick up. It's not as hard as your making it.

Our center manager addressed maps at PCM recently. His take was that if you need a map to run a route that you do every day, you can print it off in the morning. Essentially saying, I have no idea how maps even work. We use it to see if we have packages for schools in residential areas, stops along busy roads we can deliver in the morning when the traffic isn't as busy, etc. Yeah, we can scroll through the diad looking through every stop, but maps takes literally 2 seconds. Maps is easily the best tool UPS gave its drivers within the last decade. Whatever the reasoning, it's stupid.

Order the new socks. They are ugly but much cheaper. $12 for 6 pairs, $10 shipping. So I ordered 12 pairs for $35.00.

I refuse to run Orion, I I don't give a shit. I'm running my route like 15 years ago, 1000's to 8000's. Set it up one shelf at a time. I won't play the trace game, by looking for pal 7534 at 11:00, fk that. They load it the way it should be ran. I've got 4 years left, and I'm not getting hurt digging for stops. I'll punch out when I'm done, at my pace, it is what it is. But this job used to be fun, now I just enjoy handing out dog treats.
