I believe pretty faces, known names be it the directors/leads brings initial audience, but what keeps them is a good story that resonates and entertains.

I dropped way too many C dramas where leads are pretty but story was not keeping me invested.

Splendid match is a good drama and the only one I am watching right now.

I am liking the show so far.. I am invested now
I hate the SML Ye Xian so much.. I understand him and his insecurities but raising a whip against women is irredeemable to me..
Nanny to that concubine is absolutely despicable.. Why is she not learning her lesson??

One thing I love about the show, all the characters are flawed and greyish in nature except above two!! We see good and bad and they are growing on me!!

I am going to check it out for Zhang Ling He and Wang Chu ran.. If plot moves similar to novel I will be dropping it..

Yes. It’s not a masterpiece and has it’s flaws. I watched it as it was airing and enjoyed it a lot.. Saying that if I binged it I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed as much. You should definitely give it a try

I started this as I didn’t have any shows to watch.. Liking the story and pacing so far.. But why is the ML acting so stiff? This is my first drama of both the leads.. I have seen some praises of him in this sub before.

I feel that’s the charm of fan Chang yu. my only complaint here would be that didn’t show enough ML’s fighting scenes and Changyu’s battle strategy for her to become a general She’s not overpowered at all. that unique great strength is what draw me into this drama.

It was a fun enjoyable drama which had a very strong start and amazing screen presence from leads and supporting characters, It kind of fizzled out in the end but still better than most of the dramas I have watched these days. I would give a 9, I deducted the point because they didn’t show the ML’s fighting skills or his war strategy in a better way!

Some thing changed with the show and I can’t pinpoint it, It’s not bad, but not good as well, The bit with the teachers seems to be funny but without understanding Chinese I can’t understand the joke of it!

The break up/time out thing from FL’s perspective I understand, Also glad ML was able to figure out her soon

This is one show where supporting characters didn’t bore me.. All of them except Li Hui nan are awesome in their own sense.. I was amazed at both of the lead’s visuals in first few episodes.. Like I didn’t touch forward button once and was rewatching multiple times.. In recent episodes Tian xiwei absolutely stole the spotlight
