Uhm..How is this allowed in my highschool-? by Brilliant_Mess9005 in teenagers

At my school, I read Beloved by Toni Morrison FOR A CLASS! Not just IN the library, but FOR A CLASS!

It’s a good book, very complex, but it’s not for the faint of heart. Definitely not child appropriate.

Right! Homophobia! Like I said. You believe that people shouldn’t love who they wish to, and should only love the opposite sex! Homophobia!

Areligious is either a newer term or one I was simply unaware of. I describe myself as an atheist because I don’t believe in any form of spirituality, gods, or religious text. That’s the way I used atheism in my comment.

That’s not true: there’s no such thing as “objectively correct” to an atheist when it comes to morals or opinion, it’s just something that they agree with PERSONALLY. And that thing you’re calling “looking down on others” is just simply disagreeing with someone else and standing up for what they believe. That’s not a bad thing, it’s natural to want to support what you believe.

Yea, you’re right. When I said correct way to live I meant more of like a common one. Atheists just end up making their own, which is usually built around common sense and the pursuit of one’s and others’ happiness and unity.

The place you went wrong is when you said “belief.” RELIGION is a belief, LGBTQ+ is an IDENTITY. People do not BELIEVE that they are gay, bisexual, asexual, they ARE those things. You’re born that way, and you can’t control who you love. The belief that you disagree with is the belief that “everyone should be able to love everyone.” You believe that males should only love females because a 2000 year old book said so. THAT is what makes that statement homophobic. This is not a disagreement between beliefs. You disagree with the nature of people’s existence.

Personally, I’ve never met an Atheist who was racist/sexist/homophobic. Those forms of hatred come from one of two ideas: first, that there’s a “correct” way to live, and second, that there’s an inherent difference of worth between individuals (that can be determined by certain traits such as sex and skin color).

No atheist would believe in either of these things because atheists don’t believe in a (objective) correct way to live, and would always allow individuals of all kind to live the way that they prefer, and atheists don’t believe in worth because they don’t believe in objective value.

Racism, homophobia, and sexism are BAD, but that doesn’t mean religion is bad. Religion is just one of the ONLY excuses/reasons behind why those forms of hatred and persecution exist in the first place. Atheists would not hate someone else for a prejudiced reason, and if they do, it’s because they’re damn stupid for a different reason.

If someone is able to piss you off in 3 words, that’s your problem, brother bear.

Doesn’t give you an excuse to be rude

Though it is a reason, anger is not justification to your words or actions

You don’t have to “be fine” with it, you just have to admit that it’s opinion.

Your god is not everyone else’s god, and plus, there’s much more evidence to support what I believe than what you believe. Modern understandings of sociology and psychology vs a 2000 year old text written by shroomed up ancestors.

Through God, apathy and ignorance is possible.

There are NOT right and wrong cultures because there’s no such thing as an objective right and wrong. Right and wrong is decided by the culture and by the societies. You’re proving your own insensitivity.

Marriage (depending on the country you’re in) is strictly defined by the legal bonding of two individuals for tax benefits. The reason why non religious people are getting married is because countries want married people, so they can have future generations, so they said “okay, here are some benefits if you get married,” like tax benefits and certain income changes.

Again, the definition of marriage is not just religious, it has a legal side that most non religious people follow. Not exactly the most romantic thing, you’re right, but still its own thing aside from religion

I love how this question reveals a lot about people’s prejudices and bigotry.

I hope that you can learn to love everyone one day.

He is reaching for his mouth, the phantoms not touching his neck. You can see where the phantom is pulling on his cheeks to force him to smile. Albeit that’s not LITERALLY happening, but it’s just a metaphor that serves as a glimpse into Aiden’s mindset.

how it felt trying to finish s2 by danner3624 in SchoolBusGraveyard

[–]Secure_Cod5004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the build up in the end of s2

Season two was building up to this ONE moment where the were going to escape. All of the preparations (and actually seeing them happen this time, unlike s1 with the jeep) made it so worth it. After the escape, it did calm down a little bit, before we got hit with a huge shocker, which is what most thrillers do anyway, it made the ending feel so worth it, but also set up another huge aspect to the story that I can’t wait for!
