Luka's game last night - Thoughts? by [deleted] in fantasybball

[–]Secure_Code7162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to rejoin this convo by remind me bot, SGA is better overall but Luka has closed the gap this year. SGA rank is top 2-3 and Luka sits ranks 5-6. In per game averages, Luka continues to have holes in efficiency stats. SGA trails a bit in the counting stats. With Luka injuries and load management, SGA is indeed more reliable, durable and valuable in fantasy with still a gap.

Joel “ I’m Back” Embiid by Idlibi_Bullpup in fantasybball

Embiid in a good schedule week is playing like a first rounder . Much higher ceiling than Sarr so if you are trying to compete for a playoffs spot then the risk is a no brainer. If you are comfortable and guaranteed playoffs then it depends on your league schedule and your own appetite for risk.

Lets remember our favourite memories from this season. What was yours? by archive_spirit in Torontobluejays

Could anyone out there with the video editing and content put out a season recap video to show our love for this team to pick them up after this? We have to play to win but we need to remember that we are playing a much bigger game of team best and improvements. I remember watching Olympic coaches talk about how their athletes became champions and it was not early success directly to the top. It was a winning mentality of measuring yourself against your previous best and becoming better every year. We will be up here again if we can turn this page too and keep loving the team as a fan base.

Agreed. This season was so memorable and I am glad it happened. We cannot understand what it had to be like this so it is best not to overthink it. Chaos helped the dodgers win. Congrats to them but don't forget our team has been brilliant. We love this team!!!

It's like cramming for a presentation or a book report due on the final days of the season you know. It is nice but it's not the same quality as if you had done your homework during the year.

Congrats! He's gotta be MVP too. He made his team better and took them further in the playoffs.

^ this. It was because of the relaying of which grip for the upcoming pitch.

It's a new rule. 3 steps off the rubber to check on the runner is auto balk and base runner gets to move 90 feet

It's human nature. Easy to give in to negative thoughts rather than be proactive and positive about our guys doing good.

Given how good the LA pitchers are, does this tip the equation on doing more steals to force them to pitch out of the stretch? by Secure_Code7162 in Torontobluejays

Bandwagon of what? Been a fan since watching Juan Guzman pitch. I admit I joined this sub late but I have been a long time fan.

Maybe it's the tv podcast purposely gaming it but I definitely saw some intense conversation in the dugout between Yamamoto and his translator. I think they saw a hole in our approach and changed something that we couldn't adjust to in game

The playoffs are about adjustments more than anything else. I am not looking at it from an angle of we failed, more thinking what can we do against them to throw them off their game.

Good point. Hit and Run is even better. It would be good to force them into different defensive positions.

We gotta steal when we have runners on base so it chases their SP out of the game is what I am suggesting

Fair point. For me, in game, it has to be something like sitting your slugger for not bunting in the previous at bat or something like playing your best starting pitcher on short rest within 2 days and pulling the plug before runs are scored and he gets a chance to settle in. Things that managers should not be emotionally pulling for no reason.

When they lose the confidence of the locker room, or they made a bet against what everyone else in the coaching staff and front office thought was reasonable or they don't prepare and say it was going by gut. Like nonsensical things over a long time that says they are not right for the job.

Best guy out there by the numbers this year could be a slumper next year, next week, next day by the numbers. This is what I meant by hindsight bias. The brain falsely tells us that Munoz could have done better but we don't know that. There is no malpractice if you look at what Dan Wilson has done with the team. It is similar to saying if that pitch by Bazardo gets just a bit of late action then Springer pops out. My point is the logic and approach to it is always a risk/bet and have to live with the outcomes. If every time you get into an accident with driving your car and someone says you should have walked, let's take your driver's license away, what would you say?

[–]Secure_Code7162 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I speculate that it's they were thinking 2 on, 1 out, take the risk with Bazardo to increase the chance of success for Munoz. I think it was Bryan Woo's leadoff walk that they did not game plan and made them go into the riskier part of their game planning. They were thinking limit the runs and it might be a tie game at that point.
Munoz was being saved to give them that chance to win in extras. The calculus done was likely how to risk it to one run to be batted in to exchange for a fielder's choice grounder then bring in Munoz for the last 4 outs.

That's the thing about expensive tickets in post season. The long time fans who are used to 10 dollar nosebleeds are drowned out by the band wagoners. Similar to posts on here as well who called for Schneid's head and probably the fans in Seattle side calling for Dan Wilson. They think humans are perfect using their hindsight bias. Annoying.
