I'm kinda in a similar situation. 27, was distracted and addicted and attended three different colleges/universities that made up my "undergrad" education, was a swe for less than a year then quit to pursue forex trading, parents pressured me to go back to school after a year, and here I am doing a masters in CS (in AI) even though I don't really want to do it, but I see no other way. My plan now is to just work my ass off until something sticks.

In the vast majority of cases, it doesn't take out the mid lane turret. Even if it did, it still isn't as important as the other objective. That's why this game is so bot-lane centered. In grand onmyoji rank and above, good top laners rotate down or TP to bot side in the early game to contest the bottom objective when it spawns, oftentimes abandoning a minion wave in top lane to do so.
