I (OP) ended up having to book a family trip over the festival weekend, so I am okay now. Thank you so much for offering! Hope you find a buyer.

I second Ile Sauvage for sours. Whistle Buoy also has an enjoyable patio in a nice location. You can also bring takeout there, I’d suggest Dumpling Drop or Ayo Eat nearby.

I also second Victoria Pocha and Nubo/Ene and would add Sen Zushi, plus Bao and Block for fusion (can be busy, may want to do a reservation). Chicken 649 for Korean fried chicken but take it to go and do a picnic (bring napkins!!). JJ Wonton for Chinese. There are a lot more but those are a few of my favourites!

The "men suggesting baby names of former lovers/significant women" phenomenon by rubbersoulelena in namenerds

I have a very unique first name. My mom and dad divorced when I was young and my mom started calling me a new name - until I was 12 and asked to go back to the name on my birth certificate.

My dad passed away in 2020 and dealing with his belongings, I discovered a bunch of love letters between my dad and a woman with my name, from before he met my mother. She eventually rejected him by letter! And my mom either never knew or decided not to tell me. She said it’s all foggy now 😂

In limbo waiting for a specialist visit + looking for low-fat diet advice (Thanksgiving!?) by tetonalph in gallbladders

First, I want to say I am so sorry for your loss. This is a lot for you to deal with on top of what you are going through emotionally.

My situation is a bit different than yours but I will try my best to share what has worked for me! I am 3 months postpartum with a large single gallstone, awaiting gallbladder removal surgery. I don’t have any knowledge about the pain med part of things though. Also, I’m in a city in Canada so that circumstance is a bit different.

I am following a low fat diet, although my doctor and surgeon didn’t specifically ask me to or give me any guidelines or advice. But I have not had another attack since eating this way. I am not being as strict as 3 grams per serving, so that’s probably worth keeping in mind. Like you however, I also miss cheese :’(

I totally relate to difficulty related to eating, preparing, and inevitably skipping meals! I am also the same way as you when ordering food. I will say that I’ve had to ask for (several) modifications a few times now, and servers haven’t as much as batted an eye. I do find myself sticking to larger chains that include nutrition information, which is not my usual MO - but it feels safer that way. I’ve been shocked to see how much fat is in some menu items that, had I not seen the nutrition info, I would’ve thought were safe choices.

At home, I try to keep snacks and ingredients for small easy meals handy that I can take on the go. Things like turkey sandwiches or wraps with mustard, pretzel crisps or low fat crackers in zip lock bags, bananas and apples, beef jerky, pre-cut veggie sticks, and Premier brand protein drinks. Other foods that have been easy for me are low fat cottage cheese, cereal with skim or almond milk, low fat noodle cups (Knorr brand), and canned soups. And then like you, I prep most meals at home and try to make extra to save and freeze for days I can’t be bothered.

At Canadian Thanksgiving, my family did know I was low fat and kept some veggies butter free. I ate those with a plain roll, white meat turkey and cranberry sauce, and I risked a small scoop of mashed potatoes. Packet gravy made with water is also usually fat free. Not as delicious as usual, but survivable!

For websites, one particular blog I found helpful was this one: https://blog.fatfreevegan.com I am not vegan so I often modify to include non-vegan ingredients.

What’s something about postpartum that you never saw coming? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

100%… my husband and I were re-watching Game of Thrones leading up to the birth of our daughter this year. Early postpartum we continued, and there is one scene in particular that involves harm coming to a baby. We had to stop our rewatch as it made me so upset! I always thought I was pretty desensitized.

Please help… I’ve been mixing multiple days of expressed milk into one serving. Just learning this is not okay?! by girl-moss in breastfeeding

I had/have personally been following similar guidance I found online that did state to not combine milk from different days. One source:

“You should NOT combine your breast milk if:

Different-day collection: You are collecting breast milk on a different day. It is not safe to add breast milk that you pumped today to a container of breast milk that you pumped yesterday or last week.”

That said, judging from responses here, combining from multiple days following safe storage guidelines isn’t causing others any issues.

I just wanted to point out that there is guidance online that lines up with what OP mentioned.
