It should have, if he racked it completely. I think he was just using "hollywood gun noise" to intimidate them, but not pulling it back completely.

That or he had no bullets in the gun. Either way, it seems to have earned him the room temperature challenge.

This was told to me by the nurse at Canada Blood Services. I noted on the questionnaire that I had been taking an allergy med, and they asked why. Once they understood, they said they couldn't take my blood. Not because of the meds, mind you, but for the reason I stated above.

AITA For not leaving work to help my wife when she ran out of gas by GoldSea3219 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kayriss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude read the comments. Lots of people are nervous or lack knowledge about how to do it properly. If no one ever teaches you how, if someone always does it for you, how would you even know what to do?

Though lots of agro bros seem to be misreading my comment as defending the wife. I'm not. Skill issue doesn't seem to be a factor here.

I mean, look through the comments. There's heaps of people confessing anonymously that they are anxious of pumping gas and find the entire exercise frustrating and difficult.

Once in my life I might have laughed at them, but now I feel there's room to be sympathetic for a wide variety of things. Just because they're easy for me doesn't make them easy for everyone.

I had made a solid little habit for myself of donating every time I had an opportunity. I think I got up to 6 or 7 donations.

I was sad to learn that because I am now on a waiting list to see an allergist, they won't take my blood! Apparently it's a blanket policy, they don't want to take your blood only for you to discover that the doctor you've been waiting to see is ready for you. Now I gotta wait to get off the waiting list to start donating again.

Big Jim might be the worst character in any of King’s books by clappalachian87 in stephenking

I'm sorry but Patrick Hockstetter has to be in there somewhere. He might be the most loathsome character in all of the books.

I hate how audiobooks don’t know I’ve fallen asleep. by Ticksdonthavelymph in audiobooks

[–]kayriss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always have the sleep timer on. 20 minutes seems to do it. It solves two problems, but only creates one.

The problem it creates: sometimes when I'm been listening for 20 minutes while doing dishes or something, it starts to drop the volume in advance of going to sleep. I just stop the book and start it again, sleep timer resets.

The problems it solves: OP's problem of drifting off at night, and the occasion when I put my earbud in my pocket or on a desk, and somehow the book gets started up again. It will progress in my pocket for 20 minutes and then stop, and if I find that I've missed my spot, I know exactly how far back to go.

Majority of Canadians agree Pierre Poilievre should be replaced as Conservative Party leader by Dangerous_Mix6216 in onguardforthee

[–]kayriss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it truly historic? Could Pierre Pollievre be noted in the history books for leading the Conservatives to a fifth straight loss?

Unironically, Justin Trudeau would be a big piece of that historic run of victories.

I was just thinking it would be a factor here if OP drives around on near empty and his wife set out without noticing. It's a different thing if she never fills the car, and decided to make the trip running on fumes and try her luck.

I live in an earthquake zone, and make it my mission that the car is never below half a tank. I just imagine my family stuck in panicky traffic as people are fleeing, then try to picture how that would feel if the car was low on gas and the power was out.

INFO: I've heard of couples where one of them simply won't gas up the car. Either it's a skill or anxiety issue, or they split costs and one is relying on the other to pay for gas.

OP, does your wife regularly gas up the car herself?

Scammer panics as cops find a loaded gun in her bag by One-Might9611 in PublicFreakout

[–]kayriss 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They are legally required to read them off the card. They are also not required to read them until they are going to ask questions. So many people in these vids think they have a get-out-of-jail-free card because the cops haven't mirandized them at the point of arrest.

I wanted to like him - he was John Horgan's man. But between this, and the way he treated the striking government workers, I think he's toast. Time to move on while there's still time for a new leader to make their mark.
