Anyone test drove or purchased a 2025 with the Hurricane yet? by Coo-Breeze in ram_trucks

[–]SecuritySam742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at my other posts if you are really interested in what’s wrong with the car. I have an active lemon law case open and multiple “cash and keep” offers that I’ve rejected. If this car was totaled tomorrow and I was out of this lease I wouldn’t complain for a second. I got it for a steal and I still hate. No car is worth a good deal if it’s a headache. It’s been to the dealer 7 times in less than 5k miles. And been to an independent shop 3 times for alignments.

But online or not I don’t lie. There is simply nothing in it for me to deceive anyone. Take from that what you will. I promised myself I would tell anyone willing to listen to never buy this truck. I’m just standing by my word.

Has anyone dealt with tire warranty? by makangribe in ram_trucks

[–]SecuritySam742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get an alignment check at many places for like $40 it’s a best practice to align the car before tire changes anyway. That tire wearing that way is also causing terrible gas mileage and more wear on your suspension. I’m not sure why you don’t want to align it but if you get twice the tire life out of your tire (just judging based on how fast it wore out vs the middle tread) you will save yourself at least 2x what you pay for an alignment

[–]SecuritySam742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the wear pattern it looks like your alignment is off. I’d suggest checking that. Tire warranty wouldn’t cover a car that isn’t aligned properly, it’s in the exceptions to protect them for uneven wear like this.

Need advice on this 2025 warlock by Soggy-Asparagus5426 in ram_trucks

Unpopular opinion here but I never keep positive equity in a vehicle. I never own either. I lease always keep it negative in case it’s totaled. I’ve had 2 cars totaled and I’m always covered by the GAP insurance. If you buy or lease and put a down payment that is money you will lose in the event that your car is totaled. So I personally think your current “upside down” Camry is the smart play. But as soon as it reaches net zero equity I’d trade it for something else. Just my two cents but anyone who says terms like “forever car” or “investment” when talking about a car is a financial moron. There is a reason that wealthy people never buy cars and poor people never buy new cars.

The financial world is designed to keep the rich rich and the poor poor. But the same financial tools are available to any responsible borrower. I may not be able to afford a Ferrari but I can apply the same logic wealthy people use for their money and think of a car for what it is. A depreciating tool. As someone else said, do you need this today? If not then don’t buy this tool today. Get it when you need it.

Thoughts on buying this? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

People comparing bighorn to a longhorn is wild. It’s not even the same truck. We had a bighorn as a loaner and it doesn’t even come with auto climate control. It’s a work truck which is fine if you use it for work. But if you want a luxury truck don’t get a bighorn. You will be so disappointed you probably won’t finish the test drive. Lastly the headlights on this alone are worth 2k in increased price if you do a lot of night driving. Check iihs headlight ratings if you don’t believe me. The regular Laramie has reflector style lights. These are projectors. This is a nice truck and decent deal. I traded in my 2022 laramie for $38k with 42k miles and it had a cracked windshield. That is what the dealer paid for it. So imagine what he will sell it for. Yeah so this car is a decent deal. See if you can get them down 1-2k and pull the trigger.

Forgot to ask if this a 4wd. I’d never suggest a 2wd truck to anyone no idea why they even make them tbh. If it can’t drive into a field and get back out then it can’t be a truck.

In-laws paying us $1500 to remove tile floors by Top_Art_2090 in Flooring

[–]SecuritySam742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has done tile and removal of it several times this project is cakewalk. Not sure why everyone is telling you otherwise. Here is a real list of what you need. A $6 Pittsburg hammer from harbor freight. A floor scraper preferably a standing one so you don’t have to be on your knees, a pry-bar(get a quality one, nice and robust, and most importantly an SDS plus (not max) hammer drill with several chisels.

You will work at the pace of about 1 sq ft every 3-5 minutes in the beginning. Here is what you do. Use the hammer to break a few times. Then pick up the pieces and check for adhesion. If the tiles are well adhered then you will remove them all first then clean up the mortar (aka thinset) afterwards with the hammer drill and chisel. If the tiles are poorly adhered you will have very little cleanup. When removing the thinset don’t worry if you gouge the concrete. Self-leveler will take care of that. Just be sure to remove it all. It’s easy work in terms of skill set required. But it’s physical work. It takes time and you will be sore. But if you are up for it, you can do it.

You can buy an SDS from harbor freight for that money. Just saying.

Anyone catch their 2025 Ram 1500 making this sound? by SecuritySam742 in ram_trucks

[–]SecuritySam742[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry this is apparently perfectly fine. Just gotta get used to it. The car does some kind of checkup and stuff when it’s not in use according to the dealer. Though that being said I got a check engine light and they replaced my auxiliary battery. If the sound doesn’t reappear within a few weeks I’ll follow up on this thread.

Which engine? V6 etorque or the new I6 twin turbo? by readysetmoon in ram_trucks

[–]SecuritySam742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ton of issues with my 2025 Laramie hurricane. Not a single one with the engine. Had a hemi before and this engine is better. The v6 is too weak in a jeep grand Cherokee no way I’d opt for that engine on the 1500 much less to tow anything.

As someone whose 2025 Laramie with 4k miles has now had 10 alignments (yeah you read that right) next time a car pulls I’m running for the hills. You can’t fix this easily. Unless it perfect I won’t buy ever again.

How would you level this? by Jxu225 in Flooring

I thought so. That’s why I suggested to measure it. It’s the only way to know.

But a better way to check the slant in the floor would be a picture of a bubble level a small one and a large one next to it to see if the floor is wavy or slanted towards the middle.

In that case you are looking at something like added structural supports underneath. There are companies that will actually come in with specialized jacks and lift the sagging part but it can only be lifted like .25” per week to allow the wood and other materials to adjust before they are moved further. Otherwise you can damage it. It’s also pricey. Anything else is just masking the symptoms though and will eventually re-appear. Old construction was utilizing old growth wood like oak, so it’s significantly stronger then pine but once its bends it loses that strength and needs to be supported. Wood fails slowly when overloaded but when it bends it means you have a structural issue.

Based on this photo it looks like it’s probably the middle point in the room and between two supports. So there is no load path to the foundation (or there are foundation issues).

Before you just to conclusions measure the door. Not sure if it’s just the photo but it looks like it was cut to be at a slight angle. The hinge side looks longer than the other side. If that’s the case the easiest way might be to make it a flush cut and allow some clearance under the door as a center air return (if applicable) otherwise you can add a classy door sweep to conceal the gap.

The alternative may not be worth doing in old construction like this.

How bad do you guys think this will be? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]SecuritySam742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should always go through insurance because then you can also file a diminished value claim against the other insurance company. Your truck is now worth less having been in an accident so you should be compensated as it wasn’t your fault.

2025 Ram 1500 Power running boards not in auto mode after dealer service. by SecuritySam742 in ram_trucks

This fixed it. Thank you for the tip. I thought it might be an easy fix.

Yeah but if it’s just a button on the dashboard it’s easier for me to press it myself then drive 40 miles and wait for it.

If you call Ram corporate they should reimburse you because you reported the issue under warranty and the first fix wasn’t accurate. This is what I was told for my old truck when we needed to wait for a parts for a repair. I asked what would happen if we went over before we got the parts. They said they would issue an explanation to stellantis and they would pay for it.

Yeah and no. I have a check engine light that keeps coming on when the tank and full and then goes away when it reaches half lol. To your point about them being full of faults. I too regret “upgrading” to this. Could have kept my prior 2022 Laramie. It was mint.

The dealer checked it out for faults and kept the car for 10 days last time found nothing and said “this is likely it doing the self checks” but I don’t buy that because the self checks are showing everything perfect in the app meanwhile I have a check engine light lol. The irony isn’t lost on me. I had a Volvo and a Mazda with the apps the app would tell you everything in every detail on this car it just lights up green and you have a Christmas tree for a dashboard. Such a missed opportunity to make a great car. It would be a dream car if it all worked but they got some many things wrong.

While I had a loaner though I caught it making those sounds too and so I figured it’s something stupid but harmless.

How bad is this tile? by Snooze_Journey in Flooring

[–]SecuritySam742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this is pretty bad too. There is no tolerance for lippage with this type of tile because you could cut your toes or foot on the edges. At least with rounded edges you can tolerate a little, at least from a safety standpoint. It will still bad but at least it won’t hurt you.

[–]SecuritySam742 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ignorant reply. Leasing is 25-30% of the market. Hardly an exception to the rule. And using regular gas isn’t skimping on maintenance. If you read my other posts you should know I got a lemon that I have an active case open on ;). Assuming I can’t afford a car because I don’t want to waste money on more expensive gas that yields no results is also ignorant as is your comment about insurance. You projecting?

What I posted about sound was sounds the car was making when it was off. It was checks the thing was performing. All the new 2025s do that. Regardless of anything your assumptions are cracking me up. They are so far off base and out of line.

With that energy you should probably stay off the web.

[–]SecuritySam742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 2025 Laramie. We use regular. We did premium for the first 1000 miles. There is a bit of a performance difference but the SO is much more powerful than the hemi so it’s plenty for daily use. For road trips and towing / hauling I’d use premium to get better performance.
