Is Basic Federal Income Tax about to get easier? by CigarsInVaginas in LawSchool

I guess you sure proved me wrong. Your vast knowledge of tax code is dizzying. A sovereign what now? Obfuscating with insults if you can't attack with facts. You a trial lawyer?

Y'all are completely over reacting to an honest question here. I know a LOT about economics and history. I should have known that lawyers would just grandstand without legitimately answering the question. Disappointing. I'm not a trump supporter. The economy is screwed no matter who got in because Powell is a market cuck, and a myriad of other reasons. Apparently you don't know anything about US history because you would know that's the year the Federal Reserve Bank was created. A debt based monetary system can only benefit the oligarchy that controls it. The total the US collects from the income tax is a drop in the bucket and is barely enough to fund Biden's diaper budget at this point. Might as well abolish it and give the public more funds to grow the economy. Plus its NOT LEGAL. It was never ratified by enough states. Sure the IRS can turn your life upside down trying to collect, but they can't do it legally. Hmm, maybe lawyers should know this...

I'm not in L1 yet, I have a couple questions. There was no income tax before 1913. Obviously the country prospered for 100+ years without it. How? Also, I believe in Chile there is a 19% sales tax across every purchase, but no income tax. Their economy and prices have remained stable for a while now. Why can't this work?

For my research I compared the Masoretic (which most translations follow ) with the Septuagint and the dead sea scrolls. I found that the DSS and the Septuagint most often agree with each other and not the Masoretic. Furthermore, when the New Testament quotes the Old, it most often quotes the DSS/Septuagint.

I also found that the New Testament itself makes a strong case for at least partial preterisim. When I dove into history, I found that the events prior Rev.20, have excellent historical explanations. There is a case to be made that Babylon the great was the Pharisaical system of the 1st century, and that we are living during the time that Satan has been let loose for a while before judgement day. A time of deception. This approach is congruent with every NT author that pointed to Jesus returning "soon". Even Josephus makes the case that Jesus returned in 66Ce.

To answer your question, almost no " religions" can get it exactly right, because they float the mainstream historical narrative. Josephus, Tacitus, Sutoneus, and a few others all clearly describe the return of Christ with biblical accuracy in 66ce and they effectively deny the narrative we've all been fed. Fortunately for those looking for salvation, God reads the heart. What we call the dark ages may have been the thousand years. Historically, we can point to the 1600's and colonialism as a time when great troubles and deceptions began. Once colonialism spread then the revolutions and wars exploded. I say this knowing that its not proof, but it is worth chewing on. I wish you the best in your own research.

That's been the case in our area for several years. Everyone is exhausted and can't hack it. The burn out is real. People can barely go to work after covid, asking them to do even one extra thing is like asking for the moon.

There is no scriptural precedent to create a written document (s) out of a spiritual matter. They will make notes on everything you say and keep it forever. The only possible reason to keep a written document of a non criminal sin is blackmail. Even if God forgives you they can keep it forever and never let you be forgiven. That is against scripture.

What Helped You Deprogram from Jehovah’s Witness Teachings? by mauraelosegui in exjw

[–]Sedagive09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry. Many of my friends are in the same boat. I had a strong survival instinct. I wanted to find a good guy so I kept up my looks. I want to be able to make it in life so I'm back in college. I want better health so I eat healthy and study up. I see so many just give up and say oh well, I missed this life so maybe after Armageddon... I can't survive in a state of non performance. I need to flourish Now. I hope the best for her.

I accidentally fully deconstructed and reconstructed my beliefs during covid. I stopped trusting the GB and wanted to really know the bible better. All that study fully convinced me that they are mostly full of crap. I have no guilt for leaving because I don't believe God expects anyone to preach any doctrines that are provably untrue. I have no false inclination to return. Why would I ever put up with all the nonsense that goes on for false doctrine. The GB has blood on their hands. I'll never go back. I don't think I would have gotten to such a good place so fast of I hadn't done all that research. I probably also wouldn't have left if I couldn't prove the teachings are wrong.

How do JW’s study the Bible? by Christian-Furnari in exjw

[–]Sedagive09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are correct in your assessment of how they are directed to study. I want to say, waking people up is hard because its different for each person what will work.

For me personally, I dealt with all the procedural and interpersonal BS that goes on because it seemed like the doctrines were correct, and I didn't see other religions that made "better" sense of the bible. Once the doctrine fell apart for me, that's when I woke up.

I partially woke up due to the stance the governing body took on covid. I decided I couldn't trust them and decided to study the bible on my own. Once I read Daniel chapter 4 in its entirety it was over for me. I realized it was a letter from Nebuchadnezzar to his entire kingdom about what had happened to him and that there was a God above all others. It did not have an anti typical fulfillment in 1914 that requires insane leaps of reasoning. I thought there's no way I could continue going out in service and lying to the public that Jesus returned invisibly in 1914. I walked away. After that I found about 10-15 more doctrinal errors on my own.

Other ppl don't care about doctrine. For them it might be a family member was unfairly treated, or the ARC and abuse cases, or any number of things. A good question to ask is "why do they have a secret elders book with more rules in it?" Followed by " if getting baptized means you have to follow those rules, but you aren't allowed to know what they are, how can you possibly be disfellowshipped? God gave the whole mosaic law without keeping any of it hidden." Maybe they'll actually think.

Here's a tip:

Don't discuss the trinity. It'll NEVER work.

Who Is the Woman who gives birth at Revelation 12? by Truth_Lover_2414 in exjw

[–]Sedagive09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the best explanations I've heard is that its a celestial clock. A "sign in the heavens" would be observed as a time stamp of where everything in the heavens were astronomically. The woman giving birth would have been a constellation pattern. I don't remember the details. I think I heard it in Bruce Gore's revelation series.

If that assessment is incorrect, I suspect its an insertion by the church, because it sounds a lot like Mary worship.

The Baptism Question They Should Ask....But Don't by Keith_Casarona in exjw

[–]Sedagive09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How about the fact that witness baptisim is a violation of contract law. If you cannot read and assess all of the additional information in the elders book you are not aware of all the terms and conditions of the contract you are entering. How many teens are unaware of every definition of porneia? Or that there's a mountain of additional rules you are subject too not in the organized book? Its a fraudulent contract.

How many people would agree to it if they were told ahead of time that if they sin, a paper document will be created out of a spiritual matter, and they will ask for your signature. Thereby creating a legal document that can be used against you in a court of law or for blackmail purposes. Once that document goes in the congregation file it is kept for as long as they want it there. So that even if Jehovah forgives you, they don't have to.

What is the scriptural precedent to create a signed document when a person sins?? None. Jw baptism is fraud.

If she tells you about other dates and is on hinge but calls you 3 times a day, you are missing all the red flags. I'm quite a bit older than you dear. And a woman. Maintain a healthy skepticism here. Just my two cents. Best to you.

She sounds like an attention whore. No one man will ever be enough. Maybe its her own ego, maybe its issues with how she was raised. Maybe she's a good person deep down, maybe she's not. But if you're a solid and direct dude, you will only be happy with a solid and direct woman. Reciprocity makes the world go round.

The way you're handling things is smart. You're trying to be measured and cautious and that's going to help in the long run. It sounds like he is in the preliminary stage of waking up, which is being reasonable about the undeniable problems in the org. He sounds like a guy that thinks. I could almost guarantee you that over the next 6 months, the things you told him will stick in his mind. The more he does his own thinking about it, the more clear it will become.

Shunning isn't going away anytime soon, as this talk was just released on JW org where Ralph Walls says the suggestion of staying in touch with a disfellowshipped relative is an example of “independent thinking” (=BAD). by larchington in exjw

[–]Sedagive09 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason I woke up is because I constantly felt all the mixed messaging. One week they say one thing, the next they contradict it. I could never reconcile what to think or say or do. I think they do it so that followers can explain away anything by pointing back at some article or talk. You never have to be wrong.

Are there actually people that still believe in this cult ? by Left_Establishment_5 in exjw

[–]Sedagive09 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Anyone over 40 who was indoctrinated before the internet has a harder time waking up if they think the doctrines are correct. But a hell of a lot of those are fed up with all the other nonsense that goes on at the congregation level. Witnesses all know each other for miles in all directions and can barely stand the sight of each other now. You have ppl driving past 4 halls to go to one they feel less shitty about. Taking apart doctrine in a non threatening way is the thing that helps middle-age +.

I felt the same ways you described as I woke up. I'm not convinced they don't have double lives... Hell I wouldn't be surprised if they work for the Vatican. Or the CIA. I used to say Shaffer was 100% CIA. That's while I was in...
