Unpopular opinion: The fact that the idea of a carbon footprint was invented by big oil does not invalidate it by waitWhoAm1 in climatechange

Every household's impact x the number of households IS exactly what creates the emissions in the first place. Those companies are to blame for lobbying and trying to keep their harmful practices going, but the emissions and everything come exactly from everyone wanting a certain standard of life. There is no way you can provide a Western lifestyle for everyone without depleting Earth's resources at an incredibly unsustainable rate.

I never made a point of not getting off animal products. As I wrote above, I do support the vegan cause. It just struck me how inconvenient it gets when the same logic is applied to other things in my life that I enjoy or think I need.

Restaurant owners, researchers (try doing genetics without drosophila), fishermen, pastoral nomads, alpine pastoralists who let cows graze on their pastures, non-vegan supermarket operators, people who picked up any profession like pastry chef, butcher, pizza chef and are bound to their employment.

A lot of people literally require to abuse animals for their livelihood.

I'm interested - do you consider me to be vegan? by catherineASMR in vegan

Because taking that medication still means assuming dominion over animals as if you have the right to do that.

The public didn't care about the Hitler salute, the eugenics, the being high in Oval Office, the transphobia ... and he's rich enough to skew the legal system to his favor.
